I tried posting this yesterday when the forum was having trouble. I checked with proboards it seems to be fixed now so here goes again.
I have been buying some old tv series that I grew up watching either at prime-time or in rerun form but programs I had regularly watched 1 way or another.
Gunsmoke was not a program I watched a whole lot. I caught an episode once in a while on TV land or Nickelodeon but never made it a point to watch it. But a few weeks ago I was at my mother's house and she gave me some of the series. My father had about 2/3 of the episodes. Not all of them as it ran from 1955 to 1975.
But the last few weeks the kids and I. And my wife too a bit have been enjoying Gunsmoke episides. I do see how it became a classic and how it ran so long. James Arness as Marshal Matt Dillon is an awesome character.

That's how the West was won. My Dad says so. Matt Dillon and Ben Cartwright were key factors. We are a Bonanza Family. Gunsmoke too, and Star Trek definitely Star Trek.

I like Gunsmoke. Old television is better I think. I watch M A S H, Barney Miller and All in the Family a lot.

Western shows are some of my favorites. Even comedy ones like Blazing Saddles.

I continue through the weeks of watching that Marshal Matt Dillon is just badass. True cowboy and western display. Fists, guns, battles over land and whiskey.

This morning I heard that George Lindsay passes away. He played Hoover Lyle on the Andy Griffith Show And on MayberryRFD. The initial report I heard was that he was born in 1928 and that he was 83 years old. I also heard he was born in 1935 and that he was 76. In either case a television icon was lost today.
