I'm getting very close to my target of about $500 in spare change to get a digital video camera.
I'm looking at a JVC GZMG130 with hard drive (USB) capabilities.
I want something that will load into a card, instead of having to buy tapes or CDs.
I also want something that's 3 CCD but, I'll got without if there's a good camera that's 1
Anyone have a good digi-cam that they can recommend?
I also need something that has external audio jacks and/or removeable mounted mic. I'd prefer external - though I can always get an external recording set up.
***
Phil, what do you have? It seems to pick up dark/night scenes pretty good and has good audio.
Also, I'm assuming that ALL cameras have a standard mounting set-up so I can build a track, if I wanted?

Mine is a JVC. I like it. The only issue I have is probably my lack of computer knowledge, is my blogs won't go onto YouTube if it exceeds 2:10. That's why I've done seperate blogs instead of making longer videos. That can probably be modified within my computer I just haven't figured out how to do it yet.
My camera was about $650 plus about a $70 warranty. It has a light on it so it can film at night as I have done some nighttime blogs. It does have good audio and with 140 or so blogs on YouTube about half or more are still in the camera it seems to have nearly unlimited space.
There's like a threaded hole for mounting. I think it's about 1/4 inch thread.

Is there a way to find out what kind of camera took that picture? I've never seen Hillary look so pretty or seem so intelligent as in that picture. That's the most flattering picture of her I've ever seen. Usually she looks like this

When Hillary moved to New York to run for senate there was a lot of publicity here too. Bradford Pa is only a stones throw from the New York borders.
I remember a few bumper stickers on New York cars saying 'I don't throw my garbage in Arkansas'
Just thought I'd throw that out there. No pun intended.
Yeah I don't want to see Hillary get elected either and I'm a bit afraid that might happen.

OMG, BG!!! That is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen!! :::five minutes later of laughing:::: OH! I think I puked, a little, there. *** Thanks Phil for the heads up. I take it that you don't have tapes or CDs with yours, either? I recently had to buy a new battery and front brakes for my wife's car, meaning I had to dip into my cam fund I also had just gotten December's Profit Share check from work to cover the balance. It's always: Whenever you get extra cash, something expensive comes up.

It's always: Whenever you get extra cash, something expensive comes up. Did you read my mind? I know that exact same feeling right now. I went to our local tire place to see if they could fix one of the tires on my truck. It has a nail stuck in it and it needed repairs. The guy said that because of its location (near the edge of the part of the tire that touches the road) he couldn't plug it or patch it. So he sent me down the road to this other place that should have plugs. I go there and the guy says if its on the outside he most likely can't plug it. So he asks me to back the truck up a little so he could see the nail. I start to do but then he tells me to stop and come look at something. Basically, he says I'm screwed in more ways than one. All four of my tires are cracked!!!! Basically, I got four defective Bridgestones, one with a nail. They all need replaced!!! CRAAAP!!! And I just got an awesome deal on a new performance exhaust system. I might still get the exhaust but still.

Blastgirl's dad has a shop and he has said several times that he doesn't plug tires as often as he use to because tires tend to be less fixable. And after the Firestone/Bridgestone happenings of about seven years ago they have become even more gunshy about doing tire repairs unless the damage is a think nail right in the middle of the tread it almost doesn't happen anymore.
I had to buy some tires for my Mustang because my own father-in-law wouldn't patch or plug them.

Possum, thanks for the link. I looked into it, though, and I see that alot of them only hold about 30 minuts to an hour. I can't see any videos on quality but, the matter of importance is time. If I'm filming in the field, or on the road, I don't want to have to go home every hour to transfer the files. ....though, since they're so cheap, If I bought several of them.....hmmm... *** Jersey, I know how you feel on the tires. I was on the receiving side of that for 12 years, trying to explain to a customer how we can't patch a tire if it's too close to the edge (the tire flexes too much and the patch/plug will come loose). Most didn't believe us until they went to several other shops and came back because we had the best price on new ones. How old are your 'Defective Bridgestones'? Less than 10k miles they 'usually' will reimburse atleast 95% of the cost - if it's a production design problem. Also, Vatiiva will also honor most other brand-name warranties. Vatiiva is a good brand. Swedish made. Like studded tires sans studs for winteresque driving. Good all year around, too. They know their weather.
