I believe I heard that on Hannity yesterday. Or was it Rush? I'm not sure, I was listening to my talk radio app all day at work yesterday haha. Sorry if I inadvertently exposed your trusted information source. :-p It's a good quote for sure but I'm stubborn in the fact that I still don't trust Romney. I do agree that he's a shoe in though, and as a moderate he's going to attract independent voters on a larger scale. I can only hope he tears Obama down, beats him in the election, and then upholds at least most of the conservative values he's trying to say he has.

A moderate is half way back from where we are right now.

Huntsman finally recognized the futility of his campaign and pulled out of the race yesterday. I'm glad he did, since he was wasting his time and all of ours. They're also saying he's endorsing Mitt Romney, which isn't that surprising either. A liberal endorsing a moderate with the bet chance of winning.

I am still hoping for Santorum.

Huntsman is out. That's good he was only there to upset the apple cart.
I think Gingrich has the best answers and comes across with the most force. Santorum is similar in values. Romney seems to be the most electable. I agree though he is less conservative than I'd like.

Taxing upon businesses like mine has been horrific under this administration.
If Obama is reelected I and the loss of business continues along with the tax increasing like it has I will have to cut about 50 jobs. I employ 130 people.

Thunderbird, what you said in your post is a testament to how badly small and medium-sized businesses have suffered under the Obama administration and the Democrats in control. If anyone should ever doubt how much current administrative policies affect business owners and their ability to hire, simply talk to a business owner.
In regard to the Republican race, Newt Gingrich broke it wide open yesterday by winning the South Carolina primary. Not more than a couple days ago, Rick Santorum was awarded the official victory in Iowa. What this is all telling me is that conservative voters are suspicious of Romney, and although he won the New Hampshire primary it would seem the voters are not necessarily willing to hand the nomination over to someone who is so moderate in policy. He has a lot to answer for, and until those answers are given, he's not going to be allowed to run away with the nomination.
Gingrich is often criticized as being a big-government progressive. It's probably true, since hard line conservatives like me find those candidates with the kind of baggage and history as Gingrich hard to trust. I was (and am) angry with him over his ad with Nancy Pelosi calling for more government regulation to stop the supposed global warming. It's probably because of this ad that many consider him a progressive, as any true American that loves his/her country would not give that witch the time of day.
I still feel he's the better choice than Romney. Think about this. Mitt Romney constructed Romneycare, which served as a basis for the socialist Obamacare. If he were to get the nomination, he would be powerless to criticize Obamacare because of his own healthcare reform passed as governor of Massachusetts. Whoever gets the nomination will HAVE to criticize that legislation and vow to repeal it on day one. Romney has promised to do that (who is to say he won't follow through), but as a writer of similar legislation he's going to be assailed by the Obama propaganda machine.
It's good to see people pushing back against the GOP establishment and their obvious choice. I'm happy that this race has turned into this close of a contest, because even if he does win the nomination, it is sending Romney the message that conservatives do not trust him and that he had better follow through on everything that he is promising and calling for.
I think the Republican agenda should be as follows. 1. Defeat Obama and remove him. 2. Capture the Senate and keep the House. Why? With a Republican supermajority, even moderate POTUS Mitt Romney will have no choice but to listen and get the job done appropriately.
So now we see what happens in Florida.

The race is going to get interesting now and the remaining candidates are viable. The vote taker awayers or spoilers are out now.

I wonder if Brian Williams supports Romney or if he just figures if we have to have a Republican he would be the least conservative option. Williams was a terrible debate moderator, and if he didn't favor Romney it sure looked that way to me.

Brian Williams is receiving a lot of ridicule for his moderating.

This is my biggest fear about Romney winning.
Even though he did say , "I would never institute a national healthcare system like I did for Mass.... I don't believe him.
I'm still for Rick. I hope he sticks with it.

I have doubts about Romney because he has changed his mind in the past on important things. That makes me doubtful if I would want a President who might change his mind when major decisions need to be made. That was one of what made Carter's Presidency so weak.

It's been generally known that a long drawn out campaign will often force a candidate to take notice of some of the things that voters are taking him to task over and sometimes it makes them change their stance on said issues to sway the voters.
I would hope the changes are truly made from a values perspective and not a political one. Lying isn't hard to detect and people have gotten good at it.
Nevertheless, if Romney wins the nomination he's obviously my pick. Obama has GOT to get thrown out on his rear come November.

My inlaws seem to be behind Gingrich most of all. I still like Santorum the best. I am with Jersey though I could not vote for Obama nor do I think as if the country can safely afford four more years of the path we are on right nos so I would vote Romney or whoever it is that is opposed to Obama come this November.
