i am not sure is anyone herd this but kmart is getting a lot of buzz about layaway angels. these people are wonderful. I think they also been doing this at walmart to. they come into the store and pay off someone's layaway who could not afford to pay anymore due to loss of a job or health reasons. on www.mcall.com there is a video of my one manager sam. it's the kmart where I work on tilman street. in these hard times it's so nice strangers are willing to help someone have a merry christmas who could not afford christmas presents. it's stories like these that make you realize this is what christmas is about. helping each other out in their time of need. do a good deed. there is a facebook group started for them also called kmart layaway angels. you can read all the touching stories.

That's a nice charitable thing to do for someone who has come upon hard times. Assuming of course that the the recipient is legitimately ill or out of work.
That would be my worst fear if I ever was to lose my job or become ill. That would be not being able to provide for my kids.
I have a good job but if for whatever reason I came in and got told, that I'm being let go. For whatever reason. Just say I'm being let go. That would be a bit inconvenient but I am confident enough about my versatility and my willingness to work that I'd have some kind of a job within a few days.
Maybe not 1 that pays as much or has the benefits. But I believe within 3 days I'd have employment of some type. But I do have more industrial experience than most of my peers.
But even at that my worst fears are the deportment of things at key times such as Christmas and birthdays to not be able to come through like my father always did.
So its great that there's a program that raises donations to fill such voids.

These stories have been touching my heart this year. I can't afford to pay off other's debts at the moment but, when I get out of debt and start building wealth this is the sort of thing I would/will do.
My limits would be: Kids clothes, toys and supplies.
Big screen TVs can be paid for by the customer.

i agree Mahnarch I would love to pay off somebody's layaway for christmas to a family that needs it but not for this big flat screen tvs. I still have a box tv from years ago before all this fancy stuff came out. maybe one day i'll have money to pay it forward.
and Phil I agree it's horrible to think about if you might lose your job. it's all over the news today that sears and kmart stores are closing 120 of them. I am checking the website to see if kmart on tilman street in allentown is closing. I don't know what's going to happen but I feel like I am going to throw up. I can't lose my job after christmas and I feel horrible for the people who will be let go. I guess I have to see what will happen.
