i don't know what it is about christmas time that people are so stinking mean. last night lazy anna asked me to help someone in ladieswear look for a thermal that was on sale. god forbid anna would actually do something. I showed the lady 2 kinds of thermals and she yells these arent it. she said these ones were on sale. I said yes they are buy 1 get one half off. she yells where are your flyers. I said I can get one at the service desk. we go and it's not in the ad. she yells at me i'll just go to my car. I didn't know this would be so difficult. turns out the sale started at a later date and the thermals I showed her were correct. today I went to the fitting room to tell my co-worker I was back from dinner. a lady yelled at my co-worker what is your name. my co-worker said pat why. the lady slammed something on the table and said you just rolled your eyes at me. I was standing right there and she never did that so I don't know what that lady was talking about. she sounded like a nutcase for some reason around christmas is when they seem at their worst. I don't know how much more I can take of this.

Christmas is a very emotional time of the year for everybody though. Its a sad time for those who have had a hard year. Significant deaths, loss of jobs and divorces sometimes make the Christmas season a difficult thing to get through.

that's true and I know everyone takes a loss different way. the holidays are sometimes a sad time but I don't get why they feel the need to scream at me or blame me or even act like I am stupid. I kinda can't wait till the holidays are over.

I'm not really as much into Christmas as I usually am. I have everything bought that I need to have. Gifts and all but without dad its not the same. Its probably ridiculous for a 40 year old man to say that. I mean everybody goes through this sooner or later. But 'Santa Claus appearances' and the elaborate gift giving and how he would do it is unreal.
He would just when you think all the gifts are opened, he 'finds' another something.
I can't duplicate that. I could not be that creative.
So I'm not as into it as usual either. Thats not to say I'm moping around acting like a prick but I am not as ready for Christmas as I have been other years. But its coming either way so it has to be best foot forward.

Phil for what its worth I have a feeling you are the mentor for your family and your extended family. You're one of those people that just instills confidence in others and I would bet with your father having passed away the family would more than probably find you the next most sure man of the group. I do not know your brother Alan that well although he is a site member, and all. I tend to think that you are most likely the new patriarch of your family and it falls to you to carry the ball where your father left off.

I know its sad times for Phil and its probably worse for your children without their Grandpa for the first Christmas. Some Prayers are in order I think to make Christmas enjoyable in spite of this.

angel607, I don't know why-probably has to do with the season, stress, rush-rush, the feeling that they have to create a "perfect" Christmas, then again, some people are just mean anyways. Christmas is just an excuse to crank up the rudeness-some people assume that just because you work in a store, that you're supposed to put up with their crap behavior, and that they can be rude to you, because they are the customer and they are "right" (and entitled, to boot) . check out customerssuck.com for more war stories. Why you? Because you are in their line of fire-you just happen to be there. I used to work at a full serve gas station, so I sorta know what I'm talking about--notice I said I used to work there. I can't really suggest much-the serenity prayer helps me, and meditation couldn't hurt, but that's just my opinion
