This is a video I made when the story of Rod Blagojevich broke. I am not particularly a fan of Blagojevich and but he gets 14 years? That seems excessive.
This is a follow up video made regarding Blagojevich's appointment to the senate.
The doctor in the Michael Jackson case was held responsible for a death and he gets 4 years. What Governor Blagojevich did was no doubt illegal and he deserved to be removed from office but was that a prison worthy offense and if so does he deserve 14 years?
Now the Governor of Illinois Pat Quinn has the job because of Blagojevich. Quinn was of course his Lt Gov. Will Quinn be obligated to pardon him?
Input please.

Is that what was decided? Thats a long time. What he was doing was no doubt abuse of his authority in job description but that's a long time to imprison him. I dont think it will go duration but that is a long time.

That's such a tough case. I wouldn't have a problem with him having the book thrown at him as long as that's going to be the standard from now on.
Obviously it can't be because each time there's a hearing the answer would be its a different situation and obviously it is since no two cases concerning a governor over using his authority or using his authority to make money are exactly the same. Enough variables can be introduced each time to show that the circumstances are different and of course they are. So where does that leave us?
I don't think the Governor Quinn is going to have a chance to pardon Blagojevich but I also don't see him really serving the full sentence either.

As an Illinois resident it's hard to sympathize with him, he did a lot of damage to our state. Other states might laugh at us for all our governors going to jail but at least we throw the book at 'em when they deserve it.
That said I do see 14 years as a long time but I'm sure he'll be out in half the time.

I don't think he will serve the full term either. And you make a very good point that the state of Illinois does not even place a governor as being above the law and you're right that is a credit to Illinois.
I think the rest of the country still kind of sees the Al Capone gangster from Chicago as one of the legacies there and hence the silly reputation.

He deserves to serve every second of those 14 years. He tried to sell Barack Obama's Senate seat and got caught. He's an embarrassment to Illinois and the country.
But he won't serve those 14 years. He'll serve one year at the least. Obama WILL pardon him.

Obama's actually buried up to his neck in some of the same charges Blago went down for, imcluding close personal friendship with Tony Rezko, professional Chicago crook but to the media, BO still smells like a rose.

Rezko was also a supporter of Blagojevich from what I understand.
Obama does seem to slide out of these things like an eel. They called Reagan the Teflon President but nothing sticks to this guy for sure.

Obama is rubber and.... you'll get taxed for it.
Blogo will probably get a pardon faster than Ramos and Compean did under Bush*.
Though, they got commuted, not pardoned.

i dont suppose those guys make new years resolutions. ;D Sure they do, to vote themselves a pay raise before the election years hoping you'll forget by the time their seat is up for election. Or to blow in whoever's seat is not up for reelection for their scandals to take attention away from themselves.
