i was told by sharon in jewelery about a scam hitting kmart in jewelery today. someone is calling telling a employee to run a test on a prepaid visa credit card. some employees have actually done this because the person on the phone said if the test is not done the employee will be fired. I guess somehow the caller gets the number of that prepaid card and uses it online. I was suprised a employee would do that run test because I thought when it comes to credit cards service desk or management should be notified. tonight sure was interesting. I got to work with one of my favorite co-workers pat and ashley was slacking off again. pat had enough and said to me I can't this anymore you wait here and I am getting a manager. ashley was talking to a employee for 15 minutes doing nothing. pat told cindy the manager and she had to page ashley 3 times and sounded really mad. it turns outs there has been alot of complaints from managers and cindy said if she don't start working she is going to be out oh here soon. that makes me happy because I can't deal with her anymore.

Wow.. That is a scam. We have warning signs on all our registers. No credit card transactions over the phone. I had a customer who wrote two checks that were denied. He asked me if he called his wife and had her read her card number over the phone to me would I accept it? Nope. He left without his merchandise.

For starters when someone calls and says its urgent take no action if its not someone you know. I bet if you refuse to act on a called in order even if it was the stores headquarters I bet that if your reason to refuse is you didnt know the validity of the call nothing happens. If you have a slacker on duty and they call say "just a moment Ill get someone who handles these transactions." Then come back and say "Hi its Ashley can I help you?" This way if someone is going to get fired its not you. ;D

This did not happen to me, but to a guy I used to work with when I worked at the sandwich shop. A customer came in and just wanted to purchase a cookie, which cost 50 cents. The customer paid for the cookie with a $20 bill, but said he wanted a ten, a five, 4 ones, and 2 quarters back, but then he'd change his mind about what bills and coins he wanted back in change. He then pulled out a $50 bill, and asked for specific change for that. The customer kept confusing my co-worker about what change was wanted, and the guy somehow managed to make off with $100, and it was never recovered.

oh wow fartinggurl that's horrible when people do that. there's all kinds of crazy scams around christmas. if a person did that to me on regester I would said I put total on the regester so if they need different kind of change they can go to service desk. I know there have been costumers who would try and do a reach in grab in the regester take money and run while the drawer opens. also counterfit money we have to watch out for. kimm I agree. when someone says if you don't do what you are told you will be fired something is up. they can't make threats like that. and beangirl that's good you denied the money after the check wouldn't go through. once it's denied the only thing they can do is call the 1-800 number and find out the problem. sometimes the checkout supervisor can call the bank and attempt to fix the problem.

We fixed the "quick change scam" once a transaction is completed and the cash drawer is closed they have to go to customer service to get change.

We fixed the "quick change scam" once a transaction is completed and the cash drawer is closed they have to go to customer service to get change. That's unfortunately because too many employees have embezzled money from cash registers over the years they can no longer allow a 'no sale' transaction. It was probably one 1 of about 25 people who were dishonest but because of those bad apples the stores decided they can't trust anybody.

A lady tried this with me once... I stabbed her in the face. [Little did she know she was facing off against a mathematical genius.] I bet you did Pirate.

well today was one of the worst days for scams. first on ebay the buyer's item arrived and they reveresed payment to their bank account by taking the money from my bank account. I called ebay for 10 minutes and they kept saying enter the pin to speak to a person. well I was never told a person would take my call just entered the pin over and over. tomorrow I have to call paypal and if they won't help I have to file a police report. today at work in jewelery a guy called me stuttering so much I could hardly understand what he was saying. he asked me how long I have been in jewelery. I said I just cover because I am in ladieswear. he yelled then why are you answering the phone. he also yelled that I did not apoligize to him for having a bad day. he said you work for me you understand that. what are the reset numbers for checkouts. I said hold on while I get someone for you. he hung up. I reported the caller to the manager and she said it was the aggresive scammer and I handled it well. the guy sounded like he was high. hopefully things turn around soon.

Gawd... I just hate it when Mr. and Mrs. Tweeker come to Wal Mart. They are so high and so rude all we want to do is get them out of the store.

I love 24 hour stores because I get a hunch to go out and get something at strange hours. Obviously I don't expect stores to stay open in case I have a hunch to go shopping but that happens a lot and 24 hour grocery stores or department stores make my night pretty often.

phil lewasite is the best place to be on black friday. there were 150 people lined up to get in at kmart 5am. I was trying to do my returns but it was so hard to push my basket of clothes in the asle with everyone asking where is this? do you have this in the back? I hate black friday and I don't want to work that day ever again.

Yeah, people were coming into to Wal Mart last night asking if we still had "this or that" on sale at 10:00 pm Thanksgiving night. Are you kidding? Nope.

they think we will have it forever at a great deal but it can't be helped when things sell out. first come first served. I had such a headache black friday I could not make it 3 feet without someone asking questions. like one lady can't find pantyhose when she is standing directly in the hoisery with 6 asle's of socks. but we survived and that's what matters. black friday I was told ashley did nothing and was on her cell phone texting most of the night. the manager told my co-worker don't worry she is being watched. well how about she get fired. I mean really do something. were busting our butts to get everything done im doing 7 days straight and she walks in to get paid for nothing. hopefully after christmas she is out of there if not before. saturday she called off so it was me and pat in clothing and I was in jewelery also because of her. you know if they gave a award to lazy people she would take first prize.
