That's a pretty big landmass though. Over 3000 miles wide and at least 1500 miles deep

Well, we do live in the same country. If you're referring to the same state, I don't know what the needs are for truckers out here in New Jersey or the need for archaeologists out in Michigan.

Well, we do live in the same country. If you're referring to the same state, I don't know what the needs are for truckers out here in New Jersey or the need for archaeologists out in Michigan. I think if you go by that process there's needs for truckers everywhere. I bet archeology is a moving target for jobs. That meaning that the job's locations vary depending on where studies are needed at varying times.

Here we go again with a comment. At the Obama fund raiser Robert Di Nero said 'Karen Santorum, Callistia Gingrich, Ann Romney, is America ready for a white 1st lady? I don't think so, not yet'
Gingrich, who I like a lot, is calling for an apology. I think he could just forget about it and take a joke. Leave it at that. Its not really that bad.
On the other hand I am sure if the right made a comment similar there's a lot more of anger that would have been hatched.
And why though? What does make that less bothersome? The fact that we have already had 43 white 1st ladies?
What does everybody think? Should Di Nero apologize or should Newt just forget about it and let it drop?
I am not an Obama supporter and I'd like to see Gingrich be President, but I think he should just forget this particular comment. But save it for when he is criticized for something he says or does.

Phil you and I usually agree 100 percent but this time I differ from you.
I think if Hank Williams Jr. deserved to be fired for what he said Di Nero can at minimum apologize for his remark.
Although I agree reverse racial jokes are more tolerated. I played ball for 16 years and dealt with it a lot.

My take? Not only do I feel DeNiro is a complete scumbag for what he said, the Obama Administration at LEAST stepped up and repudiated his deplorable remark after the intense backlash.
The fact that this got said at an Obama fundraiser is very telling. The liberal double standard with what CAN be said on the left and what CANNOT be said on the right is getting very tiresome.
I don't care if DeNiro apologizes or not. Since when would a Hollywood liberal elite know anything about the suffering of the average American struggling to put food on the table and ridiculously expensive gasoline in their cars? Simple answer? He wouldn't know, nor would he care. In short, an apology from him would be hollow, empty, meaningless, and useless.
I'll put it this way. Imagine if an actor or other famous person said something like this at a Gingrich, Santorum, or Romney fundraiser: "Michelle Obama? I don't think America needs four more years of a black first lady".
Dear God in heaven, the backlash from that would register on the richter scale. I wouldn't be surprised if people got killed over it.
In the end, the double standard is at least becoming more obvious.

You bring out a good point and that's why I posted this discussion in this particular thread since Hank Williams got let go by Monday night football for saying 'Obama and Boehner golfing together is like Hitler golfing with Netanyahu'
They took it as Hank calling Obama Hitler, but it could just as easily be taken that 2 totally different ideologies are going to golf together.
With all the anger that brought out, perhaps DeNero or the Obama campaign does own an apology.
I guess some of this is personal. If I cried about every Polish joke I heard I'd still be in a playground with my head hung.
That's 1 thing I tell my kids. Don't ever come running in sobbing because someone called you a Polak. Just don't!
But I am still interested in what everybody thinks of this.

You wouldn't make the school apologize for their student if one of them called you or your kids a Polish slur?
You mean you'd make the kids suck it up and get on with their day?
Because of that they may grow up with backbones and even possibly contribute to saving our badly slipping society.

Its just there are some things I don't want them crying about and that's 1 of them. That's hardly something that should break anyone's spirit.
