in the past 2 weeks there have been 2 fires that broke out close to me. the one was my neighbors barn 2 houses down from me. tonight another fire broke out at my job right behind our store. you could really smell it in there. 911 called to let us know then the fire alarms went off in the store. nobody was hurt and we didn't evacuate. when I left at 10pm you could still see the smoke high up but the flames were put out fast. I don't know how it started but I want to see if it is on the news. they have it up on one news site but don't know how it started. it really freaked me out tonight because if it would of made it through the store things would be really bad. so I am glad it is now under control.
i ended the night saying alot of curse words because after I had all the returns done anna came with a basket and dumped stuff in the bins and clothes on rollbar. she didn't even help me do anything tonight. we were all told returns have to get done and we can't have any at night. well she doesn't lift a finger to do anything. all she does is go to the break room with her lazy boyfriend and look at herself in the mirror. I can't work with her anymore. these lazy people come in for the money but they don't want to do anything well that's not how things work. I am telling my co-worker when I see her because im sick of dealing with this.

There is an incredible amount of people who go to their job for a paycheck and feel somewhat accomplished if they got through the shift not giving the store a full day's work when they're getting a full day's pay. I never understood that but I know it goes on.
Fire is a ferocious thing. Just about anything can burn and depending on what started the fire the intensity can vary. I've seen derailed trains cause a mass fire and that's usually horrible. Natural gas explosions are among the deadliest too. A train derailed in Pittsburgh about 12 years ago and there was a major propane explosion. We were involved in a bad train fire in Kentucky about 4 or 5 years ago too.

omg that's scary. there was a explosion here in allentown in 2011. www.mcall.com/news/local/explosion/above is the link to the story if I did it right. 5 houses exploded and I think if I herd right kid rock called one of the vctim's families. you just never know what can happen in life. on the news the pallets on the side of kmart where I work started another fire at 6:45am today. it was put out again fast. I don't know how it started. i hate lazy people who think as long as they punch in to work and show up that is all that matters. I am fed up with doing my job and picking up after slackers. they need to learn how to do something in life.

-- Dumpster fire, outside Target, at 11:28 p.m. on Oct. 6; under investigation.
-- Fire in large pile of compacted cardboard on loading dock of Kmart, at 9:11 p.m. on Oct. 6; under investigation.
this is what I found out in the police blotter the day where I work there was a fire. also a hour later there was another fire at target 5 minutes from where I live. they are both under investigation. I had a feeling someone set that fire near the side of kmart but didn't want to believe it. I really hope whoever did this is caught if it was set on purpose.

When this caught my eye I thought it said "Fries" I was like hey finally a topic I understand. Hahaha.
More serious. I have to believe as you do there Angel, that the same person set both fires. Especially if they were two hours apart. They probably figure that the fire departments aren't expecting another blaze that soon and that made it less likely to catch them the same day.
Most lowball criminals are lazy and careless though so I guess they will get caught. I say low ball because they set fire to a dumpster behind a store. Other than personal satisfaction there' nothing to be won by burning a trash bin.
A high ball arsonist would not set fire to a dumpster. That person would burn a building so the owners would pay them to and then the owners would collect the insurance money. A situation like that.

Fall is fire season in the Los Angeles basin. It gets very hot and we have the Santa Ana winds that stir up trouble. Almost always the fires start by arson. This year we have been lucky. No fires to speak of.

that's scary beangirl. I hear alot of stories where people go out into the woods and start fires that destroy alot of homes. I don't get why people do this but they must be nuts. im glad no fires have started there.
and classic I think I am now hungry for mcdonald fries now lol. I agree people who commit arson are careless and will get caught sooner or later.

Beangirl, I assume you meant by 'fire season' you mean that the forests and fields catch on fire via spontaneous combustion? I know that does happen in heavy sunshine and low rain areas. New Mexico, Arizona, and Western Texas as well as California have that issue.
There's probably no way to combat that issue other than to be on the ball when it does happen and be ready to put it out. I realize there's varying degrees of a fire too. Some can be controlled quickly by a fire department but some just are out of control and burn for weeks.

Yes it happens mostly in our Forrest's and mountains. Dry brush fuels a lot of the fires but most start by arson. we have what we call The Santa Ana Winds which are hot dry winds from the canyons. They carry embers and spread the fires quickly. They can and have turned into "Fire Storms" which is where the fires rage out of control and burn everything in it's path. One was in 1993. The last one I remember was in Oct. 2003. It was so horrible. Fires raging everywhere . The sky was choking with smoke and ashes clogged up the streets.
