you know what I don't understand? how is it kmart sells air conditioners but they don't turn it on in the summer. they always have an excuse for why it's hot. it's broke, it's on but everytime the door's open it gets hot or it's a old building. it's only june and it's miserable in the heat. we have had 2 people pass out including a cashier. we had a elderly lady go up to the checkout counter and ask for something to sit on because she said she was about to fall. you know all it takes is for one lawsuit because of kmart's stupidity and that's it. I know I shouldn't complain because there are so many people who have jobs outside and work in the dangerous heat. but when I worked 10-4 I was just miserable. the only good time is the fall because I can handle that. but winter is miserable to. it's like 40-50 degrees inside and I get so cold I want to wear a heavy coat and gloves all day. that's why I think sales are down in the summer. to many people complain they have to leave because they can't take the heat. and now what makes me mad is the manager's are taking the slackers side just because they do a good job in layaway. anna gets away with not helping us. you get rid of one pain like diamond and the same stuff happens. I even told my one co-worker im not getting help from michelle another slacker and when they schedule me these stupid hours like 6-10 I can't get returns done because the fitting room is so trashed. pat told me if their gonna do that to you do what you can and don't worry about the returns. they leave a mess for us do it for opening shift. sometimes that place makes me so mad I want to put my head through a wall.

I can understand being cheap from a business point of view but they should make it comfortable for the customers. If nothing else to make it so people hang out a little longer and shop a little more. I worked in a store where it was done that way. I dont mean that people automatically stayed longer but if they are comfortable theyre in no hurry to just run in get what they want and go they might look at this and that and buy a few more items.

kimm that is exactly what I think and other employee's think. you can't have a place so hot that people are getting sick and passing out. people don't want to shop in a place that is hot and miserable. I wish kmart would realize this. turn the air on and sales will go up.

I have never been in a major chain store that didn't use their air conditioning. this is amazing.

i can feel the sweat on my forehead and down my back. I have been getting bad headaches in that place and the managers taking the slackers sides now in everything does not help. like michelle was sitting in the training room for a long time and texting on her cell phone. my co-worker was doing training to and saw her. she's getting fed up with their crap to.

The air is a foolish thing I cant believe they do that to you. The texting in stead of work is not right either. I realize all of us take a moment here or there to do something personal while at work but dont abuse it.

Not that this belongs in comparison to the store not having hits air conditioning on but this happened once after about a 6 game losing streak on the road the bus ride our manager insisted the air conditioning not be on for a five hour ride. Saying "the guys are too comfortable its time to toughen you all up."
That's now what he thought he was doing, he just used his authority to let us know how angry he was. We didn't play any better the rest of the road trip either.

wow classic that's horrible sitting through a 5 hour bus with no air. I would think they would turn it on for baseball players. it takes a lot of dedication to play. I have watched the sport on tv and thought I could never do that. so many injuries and people could get really hurt. for a 5 hour bus ride with all the work baseball players have to go through they should feel as comfortable as possible with cool air. I can understand it is a bad feeling when you lose but everyone played their best and that's what makes it a great game.

That does seem like a dick move to do that to a whole team.

It is a dick move but the manager is the final authority on the road. In fact he can give you orders outside of the team. If you're supposed to lose weight and you're caught over eating or eating cakes and pies he can order that you be fined or suspended. Its up to the manager if you're allowed to bring a laptop computer on the road.
My last two allowed it if you were a five year or longer player. So I sometimes posted at lewasite on the road. But its strictly up to him on these matters. So if he says no Air conditioning on the bus that's how it goes. He has that right. Prickish as it might be.
