Jack Kevorkian died at age of 83. I think we all remember him as the promotor of physician assisted suicides. He was sentenced to prison but he was paroled after eight years I think it was.
I think its rather despicable of a doctor to assist people to die. People are not like wounded animals you don't just put them to sleep.

i agree with you. I had depression for many years and got help. i've been on medications like prozac, wellbutrin and many others. some meds were really not good but intensive theropy does help. I could never lead someone to die. things get bad but sometimes that's what makes you stronger. I know depression is a lot to overcome. in allentown pa in one week there was a 21 year old guy that drove his car off the 7th story parking deck and died. one persone jumped off the 8th street bridge as help tried to talk him down. it's really sad especially for the people who get left behind like the family who have to deal with the pain of missing them. some go as far as parking their car on railroad tracks to die which is dangerous with people on the train.

Thats the other thing. If you want to do yourself in think about everybody else. If you shoot yourself someone has to clean the mess. If you park on the tracks you could hurt others as well. Most people like that are selfish and inconsiderate.

yes and help is out there for people. things will get better as long as people realize it's okay to ask for help. I just get so mad when mother's kill themselves by taking their kids in the car and driving off a cliff in the water or drowning them in the tub. I agree with you kimm that people like that or selfish.

I think suicide is a cop out too. If someone committed suicide I wouldn't even go to the wake. I think that's a terrible thing to do to your family and your friends.
I understand its desperation but there is no earthly problem that can't be solved none. Lose your job? There's other jobs. Its usually over financial strain that people kill themselves. I just can't see that.
I could never subject my kids to having to say 'my dad shot himself.' or something like that. That's not to say life doesn't have its hardships for everybody. Then to be a doctor and make a mockery of teh medical profession by assisting in suicide is even sickening.

I agree. Suicide is murder and the most selfish crime at that. I have suffered major depression for over 35 years I have been on meds for years and have had some wonderful therapists who have helped a lot. Never once did I think of taking my life. I belong to God and only he can make that call.
