Geraldine Ferraro the first woman to run for Vice President died yesterday. I don't know much about her other than that. And that she tried for the democratic nomination for New York Senator but Bob Abrams got the nomination and Al D'Amato got reelected that year anyway. that was a while after running for vice president anyway.

I also heard about that. I remember when she rain for vice-President. I was 13 at the time. I always figured that it was a publicity act by Walter Mondale and the democratic party. Not because I am a republican saying this. But I don't think the democrats thought they would unseat Ronald Reagan. So they nominated Jimmy Carter's vice-President, Walter Mondale probably he had the most known name of the candidates available and selecting a woman vice-Presidential candidate would be an effort to swing some votes.
I would not have cared for Geraldine Ferraro's political views but she was a pioneer of sorts for sure.

Funny to think, without Ferraro we might not have had Hillary Clinton. Or Sarah Palin

Funny to think, without Ferraro we might not have had Hillary Clinton. Or Sarah Palin I think sooner or later there would have been woman candidates but it may have taken longer for that to happen.

She is definitely a historic figure. She has been scandal free too. Not many political figures can say that. Sometimes its the press running away with something thats not real but I dont think they even had something to do that with for Geraldine Ferraro. They did site her son for cocaine but thats kind of different he was already an adult when he got in trouble. They cant still blame it on his mom.
