recently I posted a article from our newspaper that shocked me. there was a attack on a pregnet woman who was slashed with a knife over something she posted on facebook about the attacker. she was taken to the hospital and luckily her boyfriend broke up the fight and the baby was not hurt. here's what makes me mad. the attacker got off on community service with no jail time. this is because the attacker had no record. so what kind of message does this send people. don't report a crime if they have no record. it's discusting. I know it's not right to post rude things on facebook about someone but what sane person goes after them with a knife. and what sane person allows them to get off with no jail time? it's some cases like this where I think justice is blind. center city is a dangerous area with lots of crime and this should not of been taken lightly.

I saw that too. I just can't believe the low regard some people seem to have these days for life and respect for others or lack of having it. Its repulsive to say the least.

i know. I don't know what kind of a judge makes a ruling like that. I would be afraid to walk the streets knowing my attacker is out there. plus when you suffer a attack like that the person should be put in jail reguardless of a record. because no sane person goes around stabbing people

If you ask me? Crooks have too many rights these days. Slaps on wrist, suspended sentences, ankle bracelets. "Dream Team" attorneys. We need some serious vigilante justice. Remember "Walking Tall"?

My idea wouldn't fly but I'd make them go through hard labor. They would punch a clock go through the work day and work as hard as you can. Have no rights except the very basic rights everybody has to have lunch break and water. Then once their pay is accumulated it goes to funds like Social Security or something along those lines. The money would be raised for programs that are necessary but are in danger of running out of money and the labor would be the blood and sweat of the people who steal.
Let the fruit of their labor be plucked away from them.
Thats off the initial topic though. How any body no matter how rotten could stab a pregnant woman I just will never understand.

I read that too that's the most awful thing. I just don't know the words to elaborate on this discussion. It doesn't say enough to say its awful.

classicblast I like your idea much better. a few hours of community service does not justify what the person did. plus this woman is probaly going to fear walking outside knowing the person who stabbed her is still walking the streets.
and blastgirl I agree. it's horrible going after a pregnet woman knowing you could possibly put the unborn child in danger as well.

The justice system is screwed up nowadays. A slap on the wrist or a couple hours of community service will not help a criminal learn their lesson. That sicko should not have gotten a couple hours community service; he should have been charged with 2 counts of attempted murder and thrown in jail, or like Classic said, be made to do hard labor every day for a certain amount of time.
