Its amazing how a small amount like that escalates over time.

Lol I don't know how many of you remember my avatar from the original forum, but I chose it because it sort of looked like my dad. Not a lot but the thick wavy white hair so I chose that image. Perhaps those who remember the forum who remember that avatar can see why I chose it now. Just throwing that in here. Phil, I took a trip through the Waback Machine for you. Here. Attachments:

Lol. I think now that I have posted some pictures of my dad you can see why I picked that avatar. There's a mild resemblance.

Missing my dad on the 2nd anniversary of his death. I've gotten used to not seeing him but it hasn't gotten any easier.

I know that avatar my dad used it because it looked a bit like his dad. I think as my dad's hair gets more gray he is growing in to the avatar being my dad instead of my grandpa. ;D ;D

I think your dad and your grandpa are both much handsomer than the avatar. The guy in the avatar has nice hair but so do all the men in you family from the pictures Ive seen of you, your dad, your grandpa and your uncle Alan.

Today would have been my dad's 80th birthday. He started a little late that way since he was almost 38 when I was born and I am the eldest. We had a big bash for his 70th I can't believe that was already 10 years ago how fast things go. My original avatar as most members know I picked the image that somewhat looked like my dad. And I used that avatar for years on the original forum. I know its not a perfect resemblance but I think 1 could see the connection as to why I chose that avatar.

Your dad is much handsomer than the avatar but I can see the reselblance as much as a generic avatar can look like someone. My old avatar looked a bit like me in a remote cartoon way too.
I see you had a very close relationship with your dad that is very good.

It sure goes fast. I wasn't at lewasite at my usual time today I had to stop at a wake for a friend of my dad's. This man and his brother operated a family run grocery store and stopping there on the way home from things was just about a ritual for my father. The 1 brother died about 12 years ago but this man ran it for a while before he sold 4 or 5 years ago.
He was at my father's wake and he said 'I wont be long to follow.' I know that was a figure of speech but he was right.

That's too bad. My dad is seventy seven now and a lot of his friends are dying. And no matter how good of health you never know. Elderly is fragile that way sometimes.

you can never take someone for granted because you never know. enjoy every moment you can with people and just live your life to the fullest. the pain of losing someone no matter how much time goes by never gets easier but they are always looking down on you from heaven. their always with you in some way.

Someone I played ball with early in my career died suddenly. He was a bit older than me. When I was 20 this guy was about 27 so that makes him about 46 now but too young to have a heart attack.
He was probably over taxing himself. He was preparing for a marathon that was going to be highly competitive and most of the other runners would be between 22 and 30 years old and here he was 46 training to compete for that and he seemed to have over taxed himself.
His name was Tim. And along with a few others who had been around for a few years he helped me transition to playing minor league ball at a professional level.
