So who all visited family? Got drunk? Watched the celebration on TV? Or said "eff it, I'm going to bed!" I just watched a movie and saw the countdown on TV. I don't recall seeing a ball this time. That's weird.

I remember the ball falling. It was a get together at our house with lots of friends.

I spent all of New Years Eve at my girlfriend's house (2 months on Thursday ;D). Her father came home from the hospital in the afternoon on that day after his surgery to remove his prostate gland, the best chances to remove his cancer entirely and avoid chemotherapy. The surgery went well but he was in a massive amount of pain, and he still is today. Damn doctors just seem ever reluctant to help get that kind of pain under control right away. God save us all from the Obamacare law...
So I spent New Years Eve with her and her family and helped out with her Dad, and watched the ball drop with her. And yesterday she came down and spent the afternoon, evening, and night with me and my family. So it was a very good New Years weekend for me.

New Year's Eve was at my house, and we had some friends over. We played some board games, watched the countdown, and we played on the Wii for a while. On New Year's Day my grandparents came over and we had pork and sauerkraut for dinner. Then after dinner we played some board games.

My days of getting blitzed and barely remembering the ball dropping and staggering til I pass out waking up whenever and wishing someone would shoot me are long over.
I'm going to be 40 in a few months I can't party like that now. In my early 20s even up to about 25 it was a different story.

usually I end up having a miserable new years having to work but this year was different. I ended up filming a actor at dorney park in october for the haunt and he commented my video on youtube. I then found him on facebook and added him as a friend. we started talking then he got a part in the rocky horror picture show which was one of my favorite movies. thats how we met. for new years I got a hotel called the hamptons in philly and spent it with friends. I got to meet dave from dorney in the rocky horror picture show and as soon as we got in the door he ran to give us all hugs and show us where we were seated. I had the best night of my life. we were at the fig cafe in jenkintown pa watching the actors perform rocky horror picture show as we watched the original movie at the same time. the cast did a amazing job. it went until 4am. I got to see the willow groove shopping mall and it was so beautiful. 3 floors and a carasel inside. going home was interesting. I called a car service to ask how much a ride would cost me. they said $160.00. I said i'll call back later when I get the money. after my friends leave and I am with brad I call and they tell me they have no drivers in the area to take me that far. so I guess they give rates but no rides. I had my friends husband take me home. I was up almost 40 hours on 3 hours sleep. it looks like everyone on here had a great new year and I am glad. I hope 2011 is all you could ever ask for.

It sounds like you had a bonanza New Year celebration. FYI check Amtrack service from your town to Philadelphia next time. Tracks run along parallel to Interstate 95 I'll bet there's Amtrack going that route daily because Philly and New York are on the same path.
Just an inside suggestion. You might still need a cab from the Amtrack station to your hotel but it wouldn't cost $160. An Amtrack ticket that distance would be around $25.

phil thank you so much for that information. I am going philly again feburary 4th and I don't want to take a taxi down there cause it's expensive. also in my experience some taxi drivers are pretty rude. it all depends on the person you get but some I can't deal with. I am going to google amtrack train locations. I never got to ride one and I always wanted to. people also told me I can take a greyhound bus but I havent learned where they are yet.

I mean no offense to non American board members, but my experience with cab drivers is the foreign born ones are the least polite. Obviously that isn't always the case, but having used cab service often sometimes over 100 times in a year's time I find that to be more often true.

Very rarely have I had an experience with a rude cab driver. However I have only ridden in cabs while on vacation in NYC and Florida. While we don't have taxis driving around in my town like in NYC, we do have a taxi service.

I think just about every city has taxi service but the bigger the city the easier it is to find a cab.
If you ride as many buses and planes as I have in my playing years you would find there's a few cabs parked near the airport or bus terminal just about everywhere unless you're in a rural place. In New York or Washington you can just wait at the curb and waive them down.
In a volume case like that you have more chance of getting a less pleasant people. Its as if they're doing you a favor and not you're paying them. Those places have so much demand for a cab they can take that attitude.

In Los Angeles we have them . I have maybe used them twice in my entire lifetime. Here you pretty much have to have a car. Cabs are very costly. If you want to go downtown L.A. or Hollywood it would be cheaper just to take a bus. Parking sucks downtown but cheaper than a cab.

How has your 2011 been so far? Mine hasn't been too bad. I'm getting comfortable in this new job. I am going to enjoy it. Not as much as playing baseball but I am going to enjoy it more than going to games and being the leg work guy for the people who write the articles.

My family is doing great. I am loved. Can't be any better that that.

I'm feeling a little better and more established in my life after baseball.
Last year it was kind of running around to find something to get through a time knowing that was not going to be long term. I now have a job I could conceivably keep for years.

I had vibes this was going to be a good year. Of course on the 16th my father passed away. That's a set back but I don't think the whole year overall is going to be that bad.
