Gah! This coming Sunday (11/25/07) I was going to go down and buy my wife an nice beater car for winter so I could get her out of my 'very nice' pick-up truck. Well, last night, she drives MY G** D*** F**** T**** (oh,, I guess 'truck' isn't a bad word..) into the rear seat of some blonde ditz that doesn't have time to wait for someone to clear an intersection!!!! Lori slammed her brakes, doing about 45mph but couldn't stop. The other lady plulled out and HIT HER G** D*** BRAKES!!!! WHY??!!!! WHY THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT IF YOU PULL OUT IN FRONT OF SOMEONE? If anything, you'd want to get the hell out of there and turn down the first road you saw just to get away from the person you cut off! Now, my nice GMC is square nosed, just 3 days before I decided to buy my friend 'J's car for Lori after Lori's been driving my truck for the last 7 months....... I just wish it was me in my semi, barrelling down on that lady. Let's see how eager she'd be to hit that brake, then.... IT WAS A NICE LOOKING TRUCK!!! I SPENT SOOO MUCH TIME TAKING CARE OF IT!!!! NOW PART OF IT IS EMBEDDED IN SOME '89 TAURUS' BACK BUMPER!!! *I'm crying at this point* (Oh, and Lori's fine. Not even a bruise. She called me right away but, I'm still *mad* at the other lady...)

Gah! This coming Not even a bruise. She called me right away but, I'm still *mad* at the other lady...) The not injured part is the main thing. I know how you feel and its not just an expression. I had a truck ruined by a drunk while it was parked. As long as your wife is not hurt hoods and fenders are replaceable. Its not totaled is it? Mine was.

True, metal is replaceable but, still....
I'm not mad at Lori, I'm mad at the lady who pulled out in front of her.
I have ONE (ONE!!!) nice thing in my life, and that is (was) my truck.
My house was built in 1953. It has air leaks and random (stupid) remodel attempts. I have my 1972 Gran Torino. Body's crap but, runs great. I have my cat (Diva) - fixed and useless. My two terriers - both fixed - and I find out that they're worth a forture in breeding stock (afterward). I have my comic collection [bought for $1600/valued at over $40,000] but no one will buy it.
And, then, I have my truck. A nice, newly looking '95 GMC K1500. Everyone likes it. Everyone wants to buy it from me. Everyone loves to ride in it......
...now it's garbage. Trash. Refuse in a back alley... Something I wouldn't even scrape off the bottom of my shoe. In fact, I'd throw the shoe away!
I might be able to knock out the bumper and straighten the fiberglass but, the truck will still know it's been hit. It's ego has been soured. I can already feel it. It doesn't drive the same - it pulls to the right, quite a bit. It's also making a noise at cruise speed - which I'm sure wasn't there before.
I also think that a new rust spot started over the rear wheel well that wasn't there a few days ago. An uncontrollable patch of demon cancer!!!!
I hate looking at it in the driveway. It's like looking a a disfigured friend after you've known him for years...and then...suddenly, He's got a huge scar on his face.
It's frustrating, I guess. That's all I can say.
......*crying*.....one. nice. thing. ONE!! Gone. It's all gone. Never again!!!!
YOU HEAR ME, CLOUDS IN THE SKY??!!! I WILL NEVER OWN ANYTHING NICE, EVER AGAIN!! AND THEN YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM FROM ME!!!! MUAH HA AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
*runs naked through the rain and into a poison ivy patch to hide.....*

I guess I'm going to echo some other people here but I sill will anyway.
The important thing is your wife is ok and that's the main thing. Now you can have "MY BEAUTIFUL TRUCK" rant. ;D

OH, I guess I jumped the gun but, since it's OK, now, I'll do it.
MY TRUCK!!!!! YARRRRGH!!
I think it also uses more gas than before......and doesn't heat up as fast....and the blinker doesn't blink as fast...and the paint seems faded-er......and the radio doesn't come in as clear.
Maybe it's just me, though. I'm glad she didn't wrinkle the hood. It's all bumper and grill. No wire damage, even.
My insurance has no collision and a deductible of 500. It will cost about 450 to have someone else fix it and about 150 for me to do it, myself, provided I can find a decent looking 95 K1500 at my local bone yard (through which I still have connections per my previous job, if you remember)
Hmm, which path to travel..........

Self. Bring some friends over to help hold stuff and when you need an extra pair of hands. If your friends are like my Dad's friends they'll work for beer.

My dad has a 98 Silverado.
Any structural damage? It shoudn't be too hard to replace the grill and bumper if that's all that's damaged.

Kimmie...sadly, with my work schedule, I have no friends. Well, a couple but, I can only see them on friday and saturday nights for a couple of hours before they get tired and have to go home. (lazy first0shifters)
They do work for beer, though!
I think I'll still let it ride through the winter like this, though.

Spartan:
No, frame damage or anything - even the tow bars are in perfect condition. I'm glad the headlamps are mounted separately from the grille so they aren't out of aim.
Whoa, Gwen Stephani is on TV,,,,gotta go!

As a slight consolation, the lady got her '89 Taurus hulk-smashed by a semi, while you don't even have structural damage. I've helped my dad beat out the dents from the family minivan (another case of idiot driver, except this one rear-ended us. I had just waxed the thing, too...) and while you won't get it looking as nice as it did before, the damaged parts will serve until you can replace them.

GAH! I had just washed my Yugo and was driving it to dry it off when a lady decided to climb into the passenger seat - car and all - back in '94.
Hmm, now that I think about it: Every accident I've ever been involved with has alway had a lady driver in the other car...........hmm..
lol, just kidding, ladies!!
