i was at work tonight and we were talking about black friday. the manager gave half the people their area's but not me. my one co-worker that I love working with will be there 7am-4pm and I am on 8-5. so I am glad now I will be on that day with her. but at the meeting there was a shooting at a kmart store 1 hour and 30 minute's away from our store. security said someone stole razer blades and their store security went and confronted them outside. the guy's who stole 1 had the razer's and the other had a gun. security went after the one with razers and the other guy shot security. we were told never to confront a shoplifter because that is security's job. it's pretty scary. you just never know what goes on in someone's head that they would carry a guy so they can steal. we discused the game plan for black friday that we will not deal with anyone getting trampled or running in the store. if we see someone running they will be asked to leave. we are handing out ticket's for people outside to enter the building so we don't have 500 people in the store. they want the crowd's to be safe along with us employee's. I have off tuesday and wednesday but soon I have to face black friday. I think all will go well I just hope nothing bad happen's at stores.

Security is a very dangerous job. And things like this can happen in any neighborhood too. In fact the stories that make the news usually happen in an unlikely neighborhood.

yeah I don't have it in me to ever work security. people are really brave to do that. to shoot someone because you need your stolen merchandise is crazy.

That has to be terrifying. I hope nothing like that happens. I think there should be armed guards and stuff all around major stores to prevent a problem.

I started as a People greeter at Wal Mart. We are somewhat involved in security as if the sensors go off we must ask for receipts. No one is allowed to chase suspects out in the parking lot. Even our loss prevention cannot do this.It is because of guns or weapons. With the economy what it is now the stakes are higher. If they make it outside(and sometimes they do) We let them go.

I think anytime someone is shot in the vicinity you have to flinch a little. We had a bank robbed not too far from where I live a year ago. There were shots fired I dont think anybody was actually wounded or hit but it was a area unexpected to have that and it was mid afternoon. You just never know.

That is scary. Speaking of bank robberies, just last year, 10 banks located in my county were robbed, two of which were in my town, at gunpoint. No shots were fired at any of the robberies thankfully, but the robber was never caught. The robberies also took place in the afternoon, too.

that's scary to be robbed and have a gun pointing in your face. I like Demona's idea about armed guards. with robberies going on if a robber walked in and saw a armed guard in front it might make them think twice about robbing the place. sometimes when I watch the news I hear about homes that were robbed while they slept because it's a safe neighborhood so they left the doors open. you never know who is driving through your neighborhood so doors need to be locked at all times.

The bank robber was never caught? Sometimes crime does pay.
I don't wish to encourage that I was just kidding.
I watch a lot of tv mysteries that get solved in the most obscure clues that seem like such a long shot end up being the solution and I then a bank robber caught on camera obviously most banks have surveillance, and on a number of occasions they get away.
