International tournament for beer pong? How does a drinking game become considered a sport? This is the stupidest thing ever!
There's actually tours and media that covers these things. I can't believe it.

Beer pong was always annoying to me anyway. Too many rules for one thing, and the other is that when you go to different parties thrown by different people, you encounter their own made up rules that are either stupid or meant to throw you off, where they are more practiced.
Most of this non-sport "professionalizing" is probably coming from some of the movies that have come out in the last few years, like "Dodgeball", and especially "Beer League". They will make a movie out of anything these days, and when they do, the public follows right along.
I've never been a big drinker anyway.

I just don't see the sense of a drinking game turning into a sport. Unless its a way of turning burn outs into stars.
I think once you're much past 20 and still playing beer pong and other drinking games you dont have much of a life.
That's not to say I don't enjoy a beer once in a while, to play a game with it is just foolish. To make it an international event is stupid.

that's crazy drinking beer becomes a sport. many teens are not aware of the dangers. they get cheered on to drink by their friends and end up in the hospital. I don't really drink because I don't like the way it taste. my kind of sport is drinking pepsi and burping loud christmas day.

I have to find the fact that this gets media coverage an insult to actual athletes. Classicblast being a former baseball player probably would feel annoyed that a beerpong points leader is placed with a batting average leader. That just seems ridiculous that's all.

yeah baseball players actually put in a lot of work and training. drinking beer doesn't take any work. I would rather watch a baseball game then sit there and watch people drink beer. I don't know much about beer pong but I don't get how drinking can be considered a sport.

I spend over 15 years in minor league baseball really bugging for a chance to play in the big leagues. Obviously I knew after a whort time I was not going to develop enough to reach that plateau. After high school baseball I got an associates degree and played for a small college. I was signed by a rookie league and you go to spring camp and run several miles each day. You weight train, and have to do a large series of calisthenics that you must do daily. The result of it is I can hit a baseball over the fence. I can also snag a bouncing ball, spin 180 degrees in the air and throw the ball 120 feet into the firstbaseman's glove before the guy from the plate crosses the bag. That all happens with about 3.5 seconds. I'm not so good at beer pong. I'd hate to see the two on back-to-back pages of Sports Illustrated though.

your welcome classicblast. I think that is really cool you were a baseball player. it's a great sport. I just don't see how beer pong can compare to a sport like baseball, basketball or hockey. those have actual training and lots of hard work and dedication.

I can't believe they would turn a game this ridiculous into a sport. I've never played Beer Pong before, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like a waste of time. Sure I enjoy having a couple drinks every now and then, but I don't drink so much that I don't know what's going on. I've only been totally drunk one time, and it was not a fun experience. Still to turn drinking into a sport. I can think of a million other things I could do with my time than watch people getting drunk on TV.

Just the idea that there's national tournaments for that is incredibly stupid. ESPN highlights on beer pong. Ok.
