I've been doing some (very little) research on work-at-home type stuff to bolster my income and came across a few good, legitimate sources of income. I'll sticky this thread and post more jobs as I find them in this OP. If you have a good one that you found and/or are doing let us know and we'll list it here. Please include a short description, also. Data Entry:Mechanical TurkFreelance Writing:Demand Studios*At the moment, I'm working on the Amazon Mechanical Turk. I figure Amazon is a trustworthy company since I've done a lot of purchasing through them and they seem to be a reliable, world-wide corporation. Jobs are called "HITs" (Human Interface....something) and each HIT is a unique job paying different rates "per HIT". All HITs are Data Entry style jobs were you click Yes/No or type up short paragraphs or catagorize an item. I've spent some time doing Spanish to English translations, as well (pick the best English equivalent [A,B,C orD]..). I usually stick to the lower paying ($0.01-$0.25) HITs because they're easy and don't require too much thought. However, there are some jobs that can earn $1-$15 per HIT. HIT pay and time involved are connected. I can watch TV. Commercial comes on, "Accept HIT". Do 1-3 (depending on length) and watch TV once the show comes back. You have to have at least $10 before you can withdraw the funds to your bank account but, I've made $11 in 6 days (I was gung-ho in the beginning - on my penny HITs) It takes a little bit to figure out how the site works. First, after setting up an account, you go to "Your Account" to see your job history and what-not. It will list a bunch of jobs at the bottom but, chances are, you won't get directed to that job. You'll go to a list of HITs. Click on the job title to see an expansion of the job description. If you like the idea, click on "View a HIT in this group" to see an example. Click "Accept HIT" to accept it and click 'Submit' at the end to finish up. There is a running tally at the top right of your HITs and $$. Warning!! Some jobs have you categorize ADULT CONTENT (yeah....everything) so you must be 18+ to join and do this. *Looked but didn't touch, yet but, I've heard good things.

What do you do though? I mean are you selling products, or providing a service?

No. No selling. Just providing your brain. See; large companies will use a computer to, say, translate German to English. Well, their computer isn't all that bright (most times) so the company will pay you 5 cents to verify that the English is good. In another example, a company will put an item above a list of categories and you have to label it under the correct subsection. Example: Picture and description of a table lamp is shown. You scroll down the list: (-Parent List ---Sub-category) -Kitchen Appliances ---Dishwashers ---Stoves -Lamps ---Desktop Lamps ---Lamp Accessories ---Lamp Shades -Wall Decor ---Wall Art ---Wall Paper ---etc... You click on "Desktop Lamps" and then "Submit". Mechanical Turk is separate from the 'Amazon Store' - it is where you work for companies that have come to Amazon to ask for assistance doing small, tedious jobs that they can't afford to pay someone a salary to do. I'll find the wiki: Amazon TurkThere is no selling, referrals or buying required. Click "Accept HIT". Do HIT. Submit. Get money. Spend money. Get stuff. It's pretty straight forward. I just finished a HIT that had me find one of two people. They gave me links to two separate people with the same name (John Smith, example) -You look at each persons' page (Person A/Person B) to feel them out. -You click on other links further down the page and click whether that person is "Person A, Person B, Undecidable, or Page won't load." Like I said, the pay is equal to the required effort. Desk lamp categorizing usually pays a penny. People finding is 18 cents per HIT because you have to look at 10 websites to see if they're the same person as A or B or not. It's not something to make a living on. It's something to make some spare cash on the side on your own schedule.

Some of the Hispanic or Asian baseball players haven't spoken English for too long use different context that is grammatically different in English.
A Hispanic guy who is new to the country at batting practice might say "bat you now." Obviously you would say "your turn to bat."
It's like that. They have Americans translate so it doesn't look awkward in print.

Exactly.
There are a ton of hilarious "-to English" translations but, all you have to do is pick the correct (or best one).
I had one that was originally:
"He was kidnapped in his home country....."
Translated to:
"He kidnapped his country...."
I voted that one a -5 (worst).

Obviously I don't speak other languages. I do understand for the most part Spanish I was exposed to it for a long time. There are variations though. Just like English speaking nations being the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Canada all have a slight variation. We can understand each other in print and in speech but we use different phrases.
That's also true of Mexico, Brazil, Panama, Dominican Republics, Spain, Peru, are Spanish speaking nations but they vary in some terminology too.
Our slang is sometimes difficult when you say "to the airport and step on it." "Pick up this room."
This is where you come in is to clarify if this grammar is operable.

I just found out how quick Amazon pays you, too.
I did a "test withdrawal" on Saturday. The site says it takes 5-7 business days to process the request.
On Tuesday morning I had my $10 sitting in my checking account! Now, that's dang fast...

It fits because it makes internet money. It doesn't fit because it's a dishonest way to go about it.
On a similar note: I did read a story about a kid who asked people for a single penny (from several people). He did eventually graduate when millions of people sent him pennies (some sent more than one) and he's now a lawyer - or something.

That's pretty out of line on that. I have also seen people on facebook or YouTube ask for donations for tuition or whatever. I can't believe some people actually send it but I guess it depends on how well you sell your story.

It's a bit like Nigerian bank scams, most people aren't going to fall for it, but if enough people see it, at least one gullible person is bound to respond.

Obviously most people are going to tell you where to go with a presentation like that. But if you get enough exposure and one out of a thousand give you a buck and 30,000 people see it that's 3000. Not bad.
