Democrat Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana announced that he won't run for re-election, joining several other Dems, the very conservative Indiana will almost certainly elect a Republican in his place, possibly swinging the Senate back to control of the GOP. Interesting how this happened so quickly after Obama swept in and the media was declaring the Republican party dead...

I think these things tend to happen. We seem to see a slide on one side or the other for about two terms. It hasn't been two Presidential terms but it has been 4 to 8 years that the nation has leaned Democratic in elections as reflected by the percentage in congress.
It swings back though. I think when Clinton got elected the same thing happened. The congressional swing and the amount of leftward people got elected to various seats throughout the country. Wasn't that Clinton election in 1992 also the year for Barbra Boxer, Diane Finstein (sp)
Eventually congress became less Democrat more Republican then Bush got elected and congress started to become filled with more Democrats now that Obama has been in for a year it's coming back right from left. I think that pattern would flip back in the same amount of time though.
