A flood of emotion...
Ma is still about 80$....
....It's dark in my living room (she's sleeping) and I can't find the percent key but, it makes sense; As far as my Mother's worth to the U.S. Government... 80 bucks.
I'm not going to go forward with any Medicare or SSDI on her behalf because, one, she has no real expenses, and two, I can't take a months' worth of time off to get $200 a month.
I can float her with the help of her Bridge Card (food assistance).
On the plus side; She's becoming quite independent and managing her transport chair quite well. She still gets stuck in the back bathroom (the one Demona used) without my help.
......she gets hung up on the statues I made in honor of Demona using that room.
Statues made of concrete wrapped in gold foil..since, I couldn't afford solid gold at the time. lol.
In the end, Ma will never be 100 percent but, I'm glad that I don't have to keep a towel on her lap anymore (from her constant drooling).
She's up to the point where she can use silverware (plasticware) on a regular basis.
She's going to the potty on her own but, I still have to make sure (remind her) that she washes her hands.
She wore jeans today!!! (for my sister, who visited today) She also wore regular grunders and didn't mess herself.
I'm also getting a hankering to build stuff out of wood, lately.
Does anyone have a table saw or drill press for sale, on the cheap?

Better than nothing though. If the government doesn't care at least the family does. I'm happy to hear she's out of Depends. She's not old enough to be in those yet! That and being able to use utensils. I hope you'll tell us more progress was made. Keep proving the doctors wrong. I'm also shocked and honored to hear you made a tribute to me in the restroom. You'll have to show me. It's just good that tribute wasn't a picture taken of me on the throne! What kind of stuff do you want to build out of wood? Can you carve things? I've seen pretty stuff in yards made of tree stumps.

This is good news Pirate. Public assistance is no shame at all. No one is this country of ours should ever go hungry, ever. This is how our nation makes ends meet when the ends are frayed. My department manager at Wal Fart makes a decent wage. She has four kids 13, 12, 7, and a newborn . She is only 28 years old . Her kids dads (there are a few) help out some but she has the majority of there support. She uses WIC (Women, Infants & Children) to help round out her budget. WIC allows any women who have children under the age of 12 to get free food. Milk, eggs cheese, formula, bread etc. It doesn't matter how much you make .It is a State sponsored program. You and your Mom will do just fine now.

There's some need for Government benefits that's why they're there. But some people do take advantage of it. That does not mean that they're not a good thing.
I'm happy to read your Mom's doing better Mahnarch. It's time someone had some good news.

With my delving into this: I realize just how much I hate my mother's friend - also, ironically named Shelly (Rochelle = Shelly/Shelley/Shell/etc - same as 'Michelle' [though NOT like someone else.....who resides here.....at all...... yeah.) - because of her non-essential use of welfare.
"Shelly" told a tale a while back about how she couldn't afford a case of beer so she and her son (a recently released convict) went down to the store and bought several bottles of soda on her food stamps; dumped the soda out and returned the bottles (Michigan bottle deposit is 10 cents) to make up the difference.
I told Shelly to go to Hell and to never call me/Mum again. I haven't heard from her since.

Demona: I'll post a video as so as I make.....errr,,,,,,shoot (yeah) the bathroom!

Mahnarch, I can relate.
I saw similar things happen to my grandmother, she went from being cheerful and independent to almost bedridden and losing it in a nursing home in the space of two years.
Hopefully your mum won't fare as badly, but that doesn't mean your position is any less difficult to cope with. Good on you for looking after her the way you are, and the best of luck to both of you.

Thank you, Slayzie.
All of this has definitely drawn me and Mum a lot closer (as well as my sister - whom I've seen more often in the last few weeks than I've seen in the last 10 years).
Is your Grandmum still about? Or has she passed?

There was something on TV a few years back about people doing that. A lady who was also on assistance was so pissed. It's a loophole and people can do it. I think it's so wasteful and a dumb thing. Why not just drink the pop?

She's not only a member, she's the President....heh.
(Actually, my beef isn't against AA. It's against MADD but, we'd be here forever with my ranting about that propaganda spreading, socialist, liberal lobbiest "foundation".....)
