That quake registered a 7. There are about fifteen level 7 quakes a year maybe one or two level 8 quakes in a year I only remember one level 9. It was in the Indian ocean about 4 years ago I remember following it in a current events class.

They closed down the only airport at P-a-P because of congestion!
pfft!!!
Get the 82nd Airborne in there with relief equipment and airdrop those supplies "on spot".
Someone dropped the ball (or got overly excited about jumping in) and now has dozens of stranded aircraft on the airfield.

This is a mighty tragic thing.
What I can't get over and it makes me so mad is how many people are using it to create a sham charity. There's donation offers all over facebook and myspace for it.

And!, let it be known that www.whitehouse.gov (that B.O. is thundering out from his throne in the clouds) is NOT a trustworthy organization. If you're going to donate; do it through your local church or Red Cross. The White House wants you to donate through them so HE can claim that HE was the donator to the cause. Plus, through Him, only $0.30 of your dollar will actually get to Haiti.

You might have wondered where I have been for a few days. Obviously I wasn't here.
You may have wondered or perhaps you didn't care.
Thunderbird and a community group organized a fund drive for relief dollars for Haiti. They're sending a medical team from the community where they live. A dentist, 2 physicians, 4 members of Thunderbird's staff (carpenters are going) along with some other people they're going to spend 8 weeks at a time in Haiti to offer help.
This was a two fold thing for Blastgirl and I. I was there to help raise funds and appeal to the community that a ballplayer from their town is asking for donations. They seem to think it worked. I wasn't good enough to go higher than AA and now I'm retired but they didn't promote it like that.
A few autographs (not that anybody really wants that now) and some stories and hopefully donations.
It was also a chance for Blastgirl and I to bring the boys to see more of my family. We flew home about 3 hours ago.

Is there a chance I can get in on this?
I'll give some cash for an autographed pic of the greatest AA player in the history of the Universe*!!!
*(I've already given a "ton" to my local drive.... perhaps we can work a "pic for pic" deal? You give me an autographed pic of you. I give you an autographed pic of me?)

I was just wondering. I'm no geologist but earthquakes happen whenever they happen is that right? You can predice a hurricane and such because you can say the cane is 300 miles out to sea moving at 80mph it will hit land in about 4 hours. You might not know where exactly its going to hit or how bad it will be but you do know about when its going to touch down.
Rain, snow same thing you have an idea. Earthquake I don't think there's any way of knowing when its going to happen.

I did some research a few months ago about Earthquakes and discovered that there's a fault line under Tennesse.
And, there was an Earthquake in the late 1800's so devastating that "the land opened up" and it swallowed several Indians before closing in on itself.
They're predicting another quake in the near future that will wipe out Nashville to Bowling Green, KY.

That's a pretty far distance I think. I know an earthquake can go on for miles or even states. Obviously there's not many earthquakes in that particular area, but I think most areas have a relatively major fault zone nearby. It seems as if I have been taught that about various places throughout the world and within a few miles of any large city destruction could just hit if it so decides. Fault zones are everywhere as far as I know.
