Insomnia. I haven't slept for longer than 6 hours today after working a long time last night, and though I'm tired, I go to bed and can't sleep, and need to work again at 1am. Woah man, this blows. I wonder if anything would help, other than staying away from the caffeine, which sadly, I didn't do when trying to stay awake last night.

Maybe so if I can sit still through it without needing to get up for restroom visits and food. Lol.

I hate not being able to get to sleep. Sometimes I'll be exhausted but I'll go on line, feed the Baby and whatever and get a sudden jolt and not be able to sleep right away.

Yeah, that really sucks. Poor starving kids in Africa have no idea how much it sucks to not be able to sleep.

I experienced one really bad case of it once last year. We had to be up at 5:45 in the morning for running and I got absolutely no sleep at all. I still have no idea why that happened.

After my sisters birthday, I lay in bed trying to sleep for 6 hours. At 5 a.m I finally drifted off only to be woken by my alarm the next day at 8. I think it was the chocolate... : ) But I also get it after working on the website for an hour before bed. I use my laptop in bed and then just put it on the ground and turn off the light. I heard that if you work in your bed you wont sleep because your mind is still turned on at the bed.
Its really funny how time goes so much slower when you can't sleep and when your bored....

I battled with it a little last night.
I am conditioned to be up and ready at 9:45-10:pm at the leatest to leave the house. Well now age 36 and approaching 17 years senioirty I get most holidays off now. So I just couldn't hit the hay until almost 5am last night.
I rolled up at about 11 this morning and I wasn't ready then but a whole free 'Sunday' with the wife and kids kind of motovated me. We spent the day at a park my sister, her husband and their daughter joined us. My bro in law is terrrible at horse shoes so I felt pretty good.
When I have days off I do have a hard time going to sleep at normal hours because I am conditioned otherwise.

Another thing that sucks is that bosses and customers/the public don't care if you are exhausted. They just want what they want, and to h*ll with your problems.
The last straw is that when you get past a certain point of tiredness, it's impossible to sleep, even if it's your day off.
I hope you've been able to get some good sleep by the time I'm writing this. Take care, and good luck.

I work 10-12 hour days and I live on 6 hours of snooze time - have been for the last 7 years, it seems.
Your body gets used to it and I hate sleeping. I keep thinking, "Look at all the stuff I could be doing during that time."
Whenever I do get insomnia, though, a few beers usually takes care of that.

I could not function on less than 8-10 hours of sleep unless I really make up for it later. I don't know how some people can work those kind of jobs that go 12 hours and worse yet, 7 days a week. WTF? Only on Saturday night/Sunday morning we sometimes work 12 hours not counting break of course, when we're lucky we get an hour in between.

Drivers are only allowed to work 60 hours a week. The gov doesn't want us plowing into other cars, after all (even though a family of four can drive, nonstop, from Maine to California without hassle)
I put in 10-12 a day and usually end up with 50-60 hours, mon-fri. No weekend work.
I usually end up with a pretty decent paycheck, too. I'm 'invaluable' to the company, since I not only have my Class A, but I also drive hi-lo, know how to warehouse and do light maintanence on the trucks (with my auto repair background). I can refuse to do some work, and farm it out at my liesure. I'm not going to pull a head on a straight truck, but I'll do simple wiring, lube and body hardware stuff.
