So if a legal law abiding citizen if laid off because the economic downturn, you shouldn't have to help him because you want to go to the movies? How the hell did you get that out of my langthy post? This clarification should nto be necessary but all right. I have often said that programs have their place. They're not to live on though. I have about 150 a week taken from my paycheck that goes right into the system. I have no real problem with it. Unemployment is here to hold you until you find other employment but it's not something to live on. Its different if you're permanently disabled it's another matter altogether. In 20 years in teh workforce though I have known a lot of people. Not just a few but lots to milk things and not even look for jobs until their funding comes to expire. Even getting it extended a few times. The program too in its proper use is designated to sustain you while you prepare to again become sefl sustained. I can't make it any clearer than that. How you got that other conclusion is something I can't imagine. I'm sure you were just needling me anyway. I know what you mean about it. I'm going to say this on the subject of permanently disabled. I know people who are in between needing support and being able to work. As in, they're disability isn't severe, but enough to notice. Nobody's given them a chance at work and they've busted ass looking for jobs. In that case there is no better choice. That sort of thing really makes me mad because I think everybody deserves a chance.

Some people are not able to do for themselves in that case we do have the programs. I believe and have always believe that the programs were placed with good reason are often misused.
I wish I could discuss this longer but I'm going to be headed for work in a few minutes.

I hate the party system in general and grouping people into groups like NeoCon or Blue Dog and that crap.
You believe what YOU believe, be independent.

Does anybody else think a joke went pretty far out of proportion?

Does anybody else think a joke went pretty far out of proportion? Like...off topic? I don't think it's off topic.

Not that. I think some people took the Republican vs Democrat too seriously.
I think they're all still on Topic.

The OP is a political joke. There are two other forums that would fit the topic. There are Political and Joke forums for a reason.

Sometimes what's considered forum practice isn't exactly the law either.

Hmm.... I'm confused with the initial spark. Slippy0 said; Mahnarch: Just stop talking. Was he telling me to stop? Or, was he using prose to say that "I" was saying it? As in, was he saying that "I" was telling the mentally disordered liberal faces to stop talking? If Slippy is telling me to shut up..... so help me - I will come over to your house and I will.... blast "Rock You Like A Hurricane" into your front windows for 36 hours, straight! Possum... you're, what, 15 by now? You haven't paid any taxes over and above 6% sales tax on your video games. Start paying in the 35% tax bracket before you get too much into this (trust me, life and taxes suck after 18 - not too mention Social Security that you and I will never benefit from). I agree with you about being an Independent thinker. I'm an American, first and last. It's just, those who label themselves 'Democrat' and 'Liberal' seem to be doing the most harm, so I call them what they call themselves. Good insight, there! ....Phil is awesome....

Ok, get rid of taxes, but where would the funding for the War Debt come from?
If our country wasn't in debt and EVERYTHING was privatized I'd be fine w/o taxes

I don't think Mahnarch really wants taxes gotten rid of. But there are a tremendous amount of overtaxed situations where Congress has been squandering the money and raising taxes to repay the losses.
I think Mahnarch is speaking more about that.
This has become excessive and that's why this Coast to Coast campaign is going on. Theres people in trucks with portable toilets in the bed with various Senator or Congressional names to suggest which Congress persons have flushed the tax money away.

Porta pots with names on them as a protest? Now that's funny! I hate it when I hear tax money is funding crap, like assinine research that nobody has a need for.

Blastgirl sees where I'm coming from:
I don't want to get rid of taxes, altogether. Just reorganize where they come from.
Instead of extorting every working citizen's paycheck, why not imbed that tax into the wares they purchase?
This way, citizens have a choice as to whether or not they want to pay that tax.
The War Debt jab is well received. I agree that we have too many people and funds going that way.
Get rid of the subcontractors and put G.I.s back into those Jeeps. Lessen the troops - bring them home.
I believe that a small squad of highly trained SEALs or Marines could get the job done a lot faster and efficiently than 100,000 ground pounders.
Let them go home to their families (ready at a moment's notice in case of national threat).
I also want the scientists at Groom Lake to build me a T-101 (not AI - but, full body remote).
