This is a sad surprise. Billy Mays died today in his sleep.
He was on a plane Saturday that had a tire blow out during its land but none of the passengers were reported to be injured beyond a cut or bruise.
Billy advertised a number of products 1 of which I sort of teased. I admit I never tired the Mighty putty. I always would chuckle and kind of tease the idea that they use it to plug a leaking pipe even patch a hole with it. They also take 3 or 4 chunks of the putty to hang a shelf with no nails, screws or bolts. I shake my head about that all the time. The kids laugh at my reply because I get so soapbox when it comes up.
In fact I had to get some siding screws for the hosue a few months ago my wife said to me 'if you had just bought the Mighty Putty you would be done by now.'
That even bacame a standard reply in the house to imply that you don't need any other hardware.
But Billy Mays died at 50 today.

Gee whiz, this is a bad year for famous people. I just saw it on MSN and was surprised.

I was not too aware of him but Classic and my Dad both remember him. I wonder if the Plane incident was the cause of if this was just his time. So sad.

I too was shocked when I heard that Billy Mays died. On Facebook, someone had this picture of him giving a thumbs up, and the caption said "I may be dead, but I'll still sell you stuff."
