I just read in our local newspaper about a family who went to Rose Hills Memorial Park to visit the grave of a loved one. They had a small child and a two year old with them. As they approached the grave site there was a Diamond Back rattlesnake all curled up on the headstone! Instead of "getting the heck out of Dodge," which I would have done the Dad tries to "Shoo" away the rattler. Of course he is bitten. NOW... they call 911 and he goes to ICU where he receives anti venom. He is fine now but is going to sue the cemetery for not having "snake warning" signs. My Take on this?? I don't care if it was the Tomb of Christ! If I see a rattle snake I'm gone!

It's people and bad decisions all over. Lucky that guy didn't suffer worse. I'm with Beangirl you don't mess with potentially dangerous Animals.

Your topic might be better off in the Vent forum or the current events one. Anyway, it's amazing how people love playing the victim and blaming others for unfortunate things. The snake could have come from anywhere, and if the cemetery was more in the city it's not common to find something like that. Unless you know how to handle poisonous snakes, LEAVE THEM THE F*CK ALONE! He made a bad decision.

I hate storys like this. Arrrr. It's like when are we finally responsible for ourselves?
I remember a guy kicking up the plate on a lawn mower to end up getting his foot chopped. He tries to hold the maunfactures responsible.
Well stupid, old Mr. Toro put that plate there for a reason.
The snake is in what he thinks is his home. So the guy was actually the invader. Better to come back when Mr. Snake is not home.

This story did not make me mad. It made me laugh. I don't understand people sometimes. There is a reason reptiles have survived for so long in the world. They are vicious. Same thing with a black bear. Come across one of those and guess who is going to win? It's kind of like " Bringing a knife to a gun fight." Southern California is pretty Urban but we do have wildlife and hills mean snakes. Diamond backs are rare here. Our climate is just made for snakes. Hot and dry.

Snakes always symbolize something to be afraid of to me. I know most Snakes are not harmful. I just don't speak their language well enough to ask them one at a time if they're dangerous or not. "Excuse me Mr Python, are you going to kill me?

Mr. Python: "What? Me? Noooo!!! Why don't you come over by my swamp and we'll discuss this over biscuits and tea..."
HAA!!! This is good stuff. I should write it down..... somehow...

Can you hold the Python accountable for assault if he told you he wasnt' going to attack you but once he ran out of biscuits he bit you?
"That snake promised me that he wasn't going to hurt me and he bit me."
Judge: Haven't you ever been told not to trust a Snake in the Grass?

Mr. Python's Lawyer: [/i]"Your Honor. My client clearly said that he wasn't going to hurt the Plaintiff. The events that occurred didn't inflict harm. In fact; the Plaintiff didn't feel pain until [/i]after the puncturing event."

Thanks. People do need to use better judgment though. Most animals are not civilized. 'So Mr Python we are just here to see our friend's grave we wish you no trouble.
The snake like any other wild animal sees contact as someone who wants to eat him. So its for keeps from his view.

That kind of reminds me of the McDonalds hot coffee suite a bunch of years ago. It's stupid that people aren't smarter about their own well being. They have to put up signs now so that you know that the coffee is going to be hot. How stupid.
