Some topics that are pages and pages long, wouldn't it be a good idea to lock up and start a new thread? Any other forum I've been on does that. Also, keeping ancient topics around on past pages would be better just cut down to the last three or so wouldn't it? Not that anybody digs it up, but out with the old? By the way, the big square at the bottom where it shows who's online and number of visitors is bothersome! What caused it?

I wouldn't delete them because they serve a purpose. They can be refered to in the future if need be even if they're not bumped to the top or needed rediscussion.
Once in a while it's ok to bump an old thread if it has a discussable reason.

posted about that massive box. nobody else seemed to notice I remember aido179. I tried to fix it and even got info from proboards support forum. I tried what they suggested and it didn't work. I stopped because I didnt' want to mess up our forum.

I agree with Phil on his first post. I'd like to go back to 'refresh' my memory and it's also good to be able to see something a long lost member had posted years ago. Plus, where do we draw the line? 10 pages? 20? If a thread gets 21 pages worth of posts in one week because it's hot it would fit the 'dump' criteria. I see it as burning old books in an old library. Sorry, Demona. Aido: We can't fix it. Not without access to the Proboard program source - which is probably why Phil couldn't/won't do anything about it. If you'd like, I can send you a big bottle of 'White-Out'! Just dab a little on your screen when it pops up.....

I hate to destroy the archives because I sometimes read them.
I would not bump something old unless we really needed to take a look at it. Except for a very special occasion otherwise.
I agree with all of you about the big stupid box under the information Center. When Phil said he tried to fix it but it can cause further trouble I hesitate to try. I'd like to have it gotten rid of but not at the expense of damaging the Home Page.

I might be able to fix that one of these days but its way past my bedtime right now. I know that's kind of annoying. I hardly notice it now though.

I've seen that forum management technique before.
Once a topic reaches 1000 posts, it get's locked and a new one is started. But I think that gets a bit disorganized at times. It normally only works for forums with oversized communities.
