Whoa....Jersey.... You're 4Chan?.... We are sworn enemies, you realize? Since I'm [SA]. *Mahnarch swaps hands with his tomahawk as he hunkers down in front of Jersey - who is twice his size and twice his weight...* **Jersey pulls out a pistol** Tomahawk < Pistol Notice I mention I'm familiar with what 4Chan is and what its all about in my post above. I'm not one of their crowd because I don't agree with the way people are treated if they don't agree with them or oppose them. People have been hurt and lives have been ruined, for no other reason than to get "lulz". So no, I'm not one of them. About as far from being a part of it as it gets.

honestly it's closer to two wrongs and hundreds of rights
the media blows the negative things members of 4chan have done out of proportion and doesn't acknowledge the positive things they've done. It's not some terrorist organization, and it's not mysterious, either. for the most part they just keep to themselves.
What you're doing is like hearing about the whole Michael Vick dogfighting thing and boycotting football as a sport because of that. Not only are you ignoring the bigger picture by not seeing the philanthropy that other football players have participated in, but you're missing the fact that none of that even has anything to do with football.
4chan is just a message board.

Ok. I'll play some ball before I go to bed and try to catch 6 hours before knee rehab. I'm not a close follower of the media. It's incredibly biased and one sided. I'll read the news, and then read the same article from several different new sites just so I can laugh at the huge differences between them. I would agree that the media consistently blows nearly everything out of proportion. However, because I read so extensively into many issues, I came to my own fellings about 4Chan and the attitudes of its members. My feelings were not influenced by any news station, as you're probably referring to the Fox News report on Anonymous. You say that everything 4Chan does is for the greater good. Again, that's your personal opinion as a member of that forum. But I don't feel the same way. I can't. Not about a forum that makes fun of the Virginia Tech Massacre, says that rape is funny, and makes fun of those afflicted with Autism or any other range of diseases. 4Chan's efforts against the Church of Scientology and the rescue of Dusty the cat were admirable. But making fun of the deaths of others, along with their miserable life experiences and afflictions, strike a bad note with me. They just do. I'm not ignoring the 4Chan philosophy. It's a situation of where I looked at it, didn't like it, and moved on to other stuff I did like. The internet should always and forever be about having fun. I have fun by posting on the forums, and hanging around YouTube, or what have you. But if 4Chan's idea of having fun is this kind of stuff, then hey, it's a free internet right? Same as free speech. I wouldn't stand in the way of free speech, but I can certainly have my own feelings on what people say and do.

Personally:
Every citizen has their right to say and think whatever they want.
If Peon wants to believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth. If Jersey wants to believe that the Earth revolves around the Sun.
I will die to protect both of their views. Upholding both of their rights for free speech under the first Ammendment of the the Constitution.
Either way: "I may not agree with what you say but, I'll die to protect your right to say it."
Discussion ended.
Now shake hands and sit down!

Getting a laugh out of something dumb a person did when they made a fool of themself is one thing, but making it personal is another. The internet is not just about having fun, it has many purposes, but to be an a$$wipe (I wish the censorship thing on here would go!) should never be one.

Maybe.
I'll look into it - but, do you REALLY want anyone to use those words?

We're not little kids, it looks pretty stupid to see "dumps" and "I prove I'm a feeble mind." in place of something used to emphasize a point.

I just read Stunt's post. Its largely accurate but there's more to the story and some of it is a matter of opinion as sides of stories always are. The blasts and I knew Lewa from another forum, I think Classic was a soda member but blastgirl was not. Well Classic helped bring out a membership drive and I joined along with a number of other people.
I know that back in 2003 when it started I was 1 of the few members who had not been a soda member. Like Stunts said art, cartoons and soda constructions were often displayed here.
For those of you who weren't here 4 or 5 years ago those are the sting models that walk or roll and even fly. They're very creative animations, actually.
I know that at the time I was a 32 year old who showed up once in a while and I already knew Lewa and Classicblast but the only others who replied to or sent me messages of any kind were Sizzlepop, Cubed05, and Spykke. Eventually Jimbozo and I established a friendship through this forum. I think I was just there to a lot of others. And I was ok with that. I figured that Lewa and Classic wanted people to be here so I was.
Nearly 2 years went by. Slayer X and some of his friends came about. Yeah Slayer was kind of a rambunctious kid and he posted a little too often or made topics when what he had to say could have been just post in a general chat thread.
I felt they could have corrected him better than they did. They said some really mean things to, at that time, a little kid.
By then I was probably 34 and the father of a couple little boys. I would hate to have someone correct them that harsh and have their feelings hurt. So I guess I related with Slayer. So I stuck up for him.
That didn't go over too well. bro_c was most verbal when he said something like posting spam and bad spelling is not accepted here and by the way you can stop showing up and posting 'flying solo today' in multiple members you only do it to increase your post count.'
Ok, yeah that got me annoyed. Perhaps I don't have to post if I'm alone but I was a little annoyed that somebody would think that at age 34 I really cared about my post count, but I was glad that took some of the unneeded attention from Slayer. Slayer and his frined Raider had also brought some new activity to this forum when participation had slipped.
My son, 8 at that time was ready to participate a little. I asked Classic to make an account for him because he was not 13 and I didn't want ot fake his date of birth. That's what Classic had to do so I guess I could have just done that but I was hoping he could bypass that and we coudl use Jason's real age.
No matter. Things began to get unfriendly because of all of this. bro_c and tmtd went out of their way to correct me no matter what I did. If I typed teh instead of the, 1 of them would say 'I don't know what teh means.' And they would use it as a way to degrade my intelligence.
Yeah I said stuff back. I think I specifically remember saying that I'm 34 years old, I support a family and I dont' need to be smartassed by a couple middle school brats.
And to tell you the truth given the same situation I'd say that again now. Only I'm 37 this time.
*that was a little joke*
Then tmtd posted a thread that tells me, Classic another few older members we're confused by everday words and lack common sense.
I'm not about to take that. Classic didn't either. That's what really split the forum even though it had been drifting apart for a while.
Relations were not smooth but the forum was maintained for a couple months. Sizzlepop decided to give up his admin position and handed the torch to classicblast.
bro_c had jacked an admin account and he deleted every post in the forum. He banned all members who would have caused trouble to his plans and put in the news fodder that it was Classic clearing the forum to give us a fresh start.
That was done so we would think Classic did that to make members be against Classic, and to make Sizzlepop think he made a bad choice for an admin.
Sizzle returned, helped rebuild the foundation and then gave the admin to Classic with a condition that Classic woud not ban any of those guys for former grudges.
Classic agreed.
Sizzlepop was a great admin but his 1 weakness was where tmtd was concerned he thought tmtd could do no wrong. He would say things like 'while tmtd might have spoken roughly he does have a point.'
Classic gave those guys a year to conform. It wasnt' until they said some terrible things to blastgirl that got them banned. And they had done bannable things before that.
They stuck around as long as they did to stalk new members and insult them to the point where the new member would get a bad impression of the forum, find it unwelcoming and leave. And that was the point of what they were doing they contributed in no other ways for that year. I swear Classicblast has the patience of Jobe. They were let go with a mention or sometines not even that. Then they said some uncalled for things to Blastgirl. You just don't say those things to a woman whether the pictures were posted or not. I also rememeber something said about Donkey Punch.
What guy wouldn't ban you if you said that to his wife?

I've got to hand it to you Phil, you're clearly very intelligent and articulate. I guess my problem was more personal than I had originally thought. My problem was with your views and the seriousness you guys exuded. I had two experiences with message boards before lewasite, and one was largely a spam board where hundreds of people talked about stupid stuff all day (not 4chan, but close). Your serious attitude towards discussion was foreign to me and may not have been my cup of tea at the time, but I've come to appreciate it. I tend to stay away from smiley faces and other non-subtle jokes in my textual communication. I'll leave you guys be. I just wanted to clear it all up one last time. Mahnarch: I voted for Obama, but not simply because "he's black". It was mostly my opposition to McCain's ticket, namely Sarah Palin. My political views are strictly liberal when it comes to logical stuff (stuff that, without Christianity, would be okay) but I do hold a number of conservative viewpoints. I may have voted for McCain, because before the election, I felt that he would have been able to lift us out of the economic slump we were in. Now, I'm not so sure. But Sarah Palin was the clincher. If you watched interviews with her, read quotes, viewed her stance on a number of issues (No abortion even if the victim was raped?) she was just too dangerous to have such a high position in the country - even though her only real power was a tie breaking vote in the Senate. She would still have influence being the first woman in a position of power in the White House, and I could not have voted for her, which meant I had to go Obama.

That's the reason I don't post a great deal in the bottom forum, though I'm a moderator of it. My views are more in the middle, so I'd rather come to my own conclusions from hearing both. People like the Blasts, Mahnarch, and Phil...love 'em to death, but don't agree to the extent they do on things like that. I feel the same way you do about it. I never liked Sarah Palin, and have known women who've been raped. Luckily nothing came of it, but still, imagine how awful that is to be told, "Yeah, what a bummer, you still have to have the baby though." What a nice lifetime reminder....though it could also be a sad/happy outcome for some...it should always be a matter of opinion to those women, not the government.

Good view points, Stunts.
Though I'm highly Conservative I wasn't really on board with Palin, either. She's cute but, that's about it.
I'm on the fence with abortion, myself - rape resulting in pregnancy a given.
I'm of the opinion that no one believes in abortion until their 14 year old daughter comes home pregnant.
Abortion will also give 14 year old girls the "freedom" to have all the sex they want. I don't like that.
Demona: I try to stay out of the bottom forum as much as I can but, sometimes, I can't help it. My blood boils to much on some topics and I have to vent before I have a heart attack.
I also try to post non-political going's-on in there, too. Just for a change of pace.
