There's this new virus that struck Mexico. Known as H1N1.It seems to contain DNA information of Swine Flu, Aviar Flu and Human flu. Well known as a very strange virus, this has already caused many infections and over 20 deaths and 7 more today. The infection has already spread over 7 states of Mexico and certain parts of the USA and Canada. Due to this event schools, stores and even Churches have been closed to protect the public from gaining infections. Personally I am very concerned about this as I am living right in the middle of it all. Although there is a very strange result from a study conducted with the sick patients. The virus has only hit young, and healthy citizens with very strong defenses. Of cases with weak and/or old citizens are very rare. So we have a virus that affects people that wouldn't be in conditions of getting sick easily. So how can this be?

Oh my Goodness. That's so scary. It's like SARS disease a few years ago. I don't know if it can be avoided but we probably should take precautions but you can't lock yourself in your house until it seems to have faded out.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't be nervous at all.

This is bad....very bad! Influenza is bad enough as it is, but now this kind of strain comes out? I've studied viruses like this. Perhaps the only way it can be beaten (if there is no cure) is to let it run its course. Before you call me crazy, let me explain. Diseases and viruses that spread extremely quickly like this one are vulnerable to themselves. The reason being, in that spreading so quickly causes it to lose time in being contagious. If the virus kills one host and doesn't attach itself to a new host fast enough, it dies. This is the very reason the deadly diseases Ebola and Marburg rarely appear...they usually burn themselves out. But the only way to make this type of control usefull at all is to locally contain the virus where it is, quarantine the area, stop it from spreading, treat who you can, and let it run its course so that it dies out. In this case I don't know if that's even possible, given the sheer level of contagiousness and speed this thing is spreading...

after some research conducted by my sister here is some info we found:
This event has occured before in 1918 in Spain, which later caused a devastating widespread around the world with the same virus leaving 40,000,000 dead worldwide.
With same symptoms but a different death.
But the virus was as well a mixed breed of Swine, aviar and human flu.
And apparently it caused more deaths than WWII.
As well as that the virus was recreated in 2005 for some unknown reason in a laboratory (I don't remember where)
Anyway, the widespread lasted 2 years. Though I'm sure we can get through this one since the medications seem to be able to control and treat the disease. And as well as that medical science has advanced a lot since the last pandemic.

Imagine what percentage of the Population forty Million was almost a Century ago compared to now too. That's like you said though there is more control.

There's something interesting that they put on the news today.
It has been called "dangerous" for being new, but it's turning out that there have been more deaths from the normal flu rather than this flu. As well as that it has been confirmed that of the 150 suspicious deaths only 7 have been confirmed to be caused by the H1N1 virus. Then, why did the government say at first it was 150 confirmed deaths? Then as well as that of those other people that were suspected to have this flu actually had pneumonia.
Personally, I don't trust the government of this country. As well as that this whole this is seriously looking like the whole "Chupacabra" thing they make a long time ago when Mexico's economic stability was falling with Carlos Salinas.

In my state, in my county and the one south of it, two people have been sent to the hospital for symptoms. It's not known for sure what the illness is exactly, but of course it made front page. I hope they'll be recover, or did by now, but I know past things going around have been made off to sound worse.

difficult to know about how severe this really is.
I mean why do they show very little cases and deaths and with a severity level of 5?
I mean the news at this moment isn't telling the truth here. All the politicians are conflicting and continuously changing the situation.

The Swine Flu reminds me of a Zombie Epidemic.....
But, it's probably mostly the media's fault for the panic it's causing.
Close the border. Contain it. Cure it.
Obama says, "It's like closing the barn door after the horses have gotten out." (??!!!)
Excuse me! There are additional ill horses still in the barn! Idiot.

I think the media has blown the swine flu episode way out of proportion. It's known that this strain has been around before, and threatened a similar pandemic in the 1970's. The government decided to immunize the people, and mroe people died from from the immunizations than the actual disease.
I think its going to run its course and things will settle down. Medical care is good in the US, although I don't know what it's like in Mexico. I mean, there's only a few hundred cases right? That's nothing compared to the 13,000 cases of tuberculosis last year.
I don't think its as bad as the media says it is.

The media is admitting now that they may have jumped the gun on this. Not that thats ever stopped them before or that it's going to this time but they're beginning to look a little foolish about that now.
I remember once or twice Peter Jennings and Dan Rather were both cornered and told 'howcome both your networks reported this when it was really that?' Sometimes it's nice to see those guys in that vice of the gotcha media.

I don't think it's smart to cancel things over this. I think it's a case where the damage is done and you're either infected or you're not at this point.
I wouldn't think panic is wise. Canceling events at this stage is undue panic. You have to keep living.

Heh...
It seems to be spreading because:
Healthy people who are panicking over this flu are going to the doctor's office and..... getting the flu from another person who DOES have it who is at the same doctor!!
Media. It'll be our death....
