calasanctius = name of my school you've all heard of the America's got talent contest right? well this is a fundraiser for the girls basketball team in my school. Held in the local community sports center, tonight at 20:00h GMT. An estimated 450 people will be there...(400 tickets sold and more available at the door) and guess who is headlining? MERCURY, baby! thats the band I play with. (just mercury..no baby attached to the name...) We just finished the dress rehearsals and everything sounds unreal. if you check my youtube vid of us at the qualifier: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRYkm-V-RHAtake the quality there and multiply it by the amount of clouds in the sky outside your window....and then by pi...and after that...infinity...^10 ;D anyway, were playing the same song, but im singing an octave higher this time (as its sung on the official track) hopefully I will have a good quality video of it afterwards...but I can't promise you that...as i'm not organising it.

It's a good live performance. Your band plays music very similar to what I grew up listening to. A nice bassy rock.

At the beginning of the video I thought the kid behind the drums was wearing a Sgt. Enforcer hat.
The kid on lead guitar plays that song like I used to be able to (I hear his mistakes..;D) [not counting the improv.....]
Is he using a metal pick?
Can you guys play Paradise City? That's one that I could never get the flow down on. It's a repeater intro but, I always tended to play it backwards.

haha, yeah mahnarch, he has been learning the song for about a month. he finally got it completely perfect at rehearsals last night. But but but...i gotta tell the story!
ok, started with rehearsals at 2...we set up the sound system I own (which is in that video) to run the rhythm and bass through and we were going to use the larger sound system (which was payed for...masive speakers more than 6 foot high!)
anyway, we played unbelievably at practice. not one mistake, the sound was pure aural bliss. so we were so confident. then it was show time, we were setting up until 4, and went home for...an hour? or two and went back to set up again. so 8 o clock rolled along, along with all the nerves and excitement. so we went up to play, infront of a full house, a great crowd. it started well but deteriorated after the lead broke his high E string and blanked...we were up there, with me playing one verse, bass playing another, no lead and the lead shouting at the drums to end the song...but I was buzzing with the adrenalin. so I was thinking on my feet...the drums fairly stopped and I just kept singing "whoa whoa sweet child o mine!" and I got everybody in the crowd singing to, hands in the air, epic!
so I was majorly bummed out. I thought we had blown our chance. I had to leave through the back door and puke outside...i came in 15 minutes later and almost bit the head off of the local radio presenter who was doing MC. a very tense half an our past as we waited for the last acts to perform and to get the results (results were calculated from three hidden judges in the crowd and every member of the crowd had a voting slip!)
all the acts lined up on the stage, we stayed at the back to avoid any embarassment. they called out third, and second places....we had not featured and our heads had dropped.
finally he called out the first prize...mercury! woo!
so we played an encore and it went pretty well! no mess ups...i even walked off the stage with my guitar into the crowd...aww it was actually so epic!
Im trying to get the video up tonight!

I really enjoyed the video aido.
It looks like the crowd is enjoying you. I presume this was a performance in front of a pretty large audience not just a few people that already knew about you but I am not sure if you explained that.

Oh! Broke a string on gig night... Ouch.
That's why Eddie, James, Slash and others have about a dozen back-up guitars nearby.
Have you seen the performance of Guns and Roses doing 'Knocking On Heaven's Door'?
Slash broke a sting mid solo and the rest of the band just rolled an extended rythm with Axl repeating "Knock. Knock. Knocking on heaven's door", trying to get the crowd to shout it louder and louder each time.
They never skipped a beat. Slash got fitted with a spare axe and they continued the song.
It was awesome. That's why they make millions. "Did" make millions....

That's how the performers overcome adversity. Making that go seamlessly is a sign of continuity.
If one of Classic's teammates breaks his bat on a foul ball he has to be able to take another bad and manage. That's a little easier because he doesn't have to change the bat during the pitch, as it would be a closer metaphor compared to changing a string or even a whole guitar during a song.

>< yeah, we would have continued if he brought his strat with him. he came with his les paul.
kimm, yeah, the crowd was about 80 people the first time. so it was fairly big for us.
mahn, I got the crowd singing sweet child of mine, but the guy didnt have any other option...so we had to end it there. its unfortunate but it worked!
ps. no video yet...the guy with the video was uploading it but it froze. i'll get it asap!

When you can get the audience to follow your lead you have reached high status. I think this is a great sign of things to come.

aido!!!
Before you get famous and forget all of us lowly people on Lewasite:
Can you sign an autograph, scan it and upload it here so we can all print it for framing and wall hanging?
Sign a blank 8.5x11 or a pic of you. Either way, we don't care!
Classic! You too!
When I run for POTUS, I'll do the same for you guys.

sure thing. i'd actually send you a real signature if I knew a p.o box and how much it'd cost (just one or two, or maybe a few and who ever has it in the states can send them on easier...idk) GREAT NEWS...you get to watch the whole scenario! you can see how I got the crowd going, how we started and how different we were to the last video. whats more is you can see when the lead broke his string and how he stopped. it is a lttle sloppy before the finish, and my guitar admittedly hasn't got enough bass, but thats my guitar itself, not the settings anyway:

Aido:....you wear glasses! You're disqualified from joining my crew on the Scourging Chipmunk. Sorry. Unless you can light a cannon wick with your lenses.
You're also older than I thought you were. I had you in the range of 13-14 (I don't bother with "Member Profiles", as they're usually false, anyway). What are you - 25? LOL. You look very mature for you age.
Good improve at the end. I would pay cash-monies to see you perform.
BUT!!!!.....you didn't yell out, "Hello Lewasite!!" at the beginning. Very disappointed.
Next time! When you're featured on BBC. You better do it. And load it for us to see.

BG: I said that he WAS wearing glasses...therefore he's disqualified. Unless he can show that he can start a wick with his lenses.
Light a wick, or any piece of paper on fire with your glasses Aido, and I'll lower the plank to allow you to board.
The bigger the explosion the higher the rank on my stout ship!

lol glasses...oh mahnarch, I can kill a yak from two hundred yards away....with mind bullets! I dont need my glasses to light fuses. although, back in 01 during the mind bullet crisis I had to fell a californian red wood with my guitar playing skills alone! hows that for ya? (disclaimer: exsageration required for full effect...)
thanks anyway. im 17 almost 18. but I consider myself babyfaced compared to some of the other guys I know of my age.

Glasses are fine. I wear contact lenses I started wering them when I was 13 because I played a lot of sports, I kept wearing them because my glasses are so thick, my natural vision is very nearsighted.
Baby face? That's something I talk about a lot because some young guys get patchy facial hair and leave it unshaven thinking that makes them look older. It doesn't though because if it doesn't grow fully it doesn't make you look older.
I missed a shave on 3 straight days about a month ago. Something I hadn't done in years. I came to realize how gray my beard would be by now. I shaved right away when I saw that.
