I genuinely love George W. Bush. Our country was lucky to have him in office. Mega Ditto. Phil talks about this all the time and I agree that our National Security is going to be in danger after Bush leaves office. Obviously something as vulnerable as National security is not something that can be discussed. If you are putting programs in for economic growth, like building roads and housing projects like Franklin Roosevelt did you can promote that because it's ok for people to know that. You can't brag much about what you're doing for national security because then it wouldn't be security. I like his decisiveness and strength. He is not a prolific speaker that's what gives people ammo to call him dumb but he is not at all and I'm nervous about what lies ahead. His being reelected in 2004 for the most part guaranteed us there would not be another act of terror for a minimum of 4 years and there has not been.

So I again stick my 2 cents in. I am a supporter of George W Bush and I have said that multiple times on video and in text. He is strong and a true leader. Leadership is not always popular and its hardly ever easy.
Clinton has charm but he was very indecisive and too liberal for my taste. Taking a poll to determine what stand to take is not leadership. But that was Bill's tactic.
Had Bill been stronger then the Twin towers were attacked in 1993 and when the USS Cole was fired upon there's a chance 9/11 would not have happened. But Bill represented the country with weak leadership. Then the media tried to portray Bush as dumb which gave the 3rd world another perception of weak leadership ready to continue.
Then in 2000 Al Gore thinking he was destined to be the next president was devastated by this tries to steal votes in Florida when he lost by 40,000 votes manages to get it down to 300 something but the Supreme court finally says enough recounts already. The rest of the world gets a perception that this country has lost its ability to even elect a President.
After September 11 I think the weak perception has faded and over the years even the media has moved off calling Bush 'dumb' to calling him a tyrant.
Tyrant could just mean leader who is not a media puppet.
I really fear our national security is going to suffer badly in the absence of Bush unless Obama is smart enough to leave well enough alone on the established security in place.
I fear Obama I don't think he is going to be good for secutiry and that is the paramount issue.
I wanted McCain for that reason. Even more than Mit Romney and Ron Paul because I felt and still feel of everybody running that John McCain was the best on security issues and handling of a national crisis.
I would like to be wrong about Obama but I had not even 1 reason to vote for him. He is liberal, he is inexperienced, although time on the job isn't all when it comes down to it.
I think he has promised a virtual utopia and described it very well there's people looking at him like he is the Messiah. I dont think the things he has promised are even possible.
We shall see what happens.

I genuinely love George W. Bush. Our country was lucky to have him in office. The press hated Harry Truman just the same way. Ive seen some old articles that are just amazing in comparison to how respected Truman has become since his time. There was even an article by the Chicago Tribune saying "Dewey Defeats Truman." That was the tribune believing they had convinced people not to elect Truman. The tribune also called Truman a nincompoop. The press has power and the people tend to for the most just listen to whatever news broadcast they are comfortable with and go by that.

Honestly, I thought our country went downhill because of Bush being in office. Before he came into office we didn't have the major economic crisis that we have now, and he kept on spending money for the troops overseas, money that we didn't have, and the troops are doing more harm than good.

I can see how it would appear that way but there's more to the story. There have been three tax reductions that were put in place at the time of Bush's Presidency, and the only reason I am aware of that is because my brothers run a family business or I would not have been fully aware of some of the tax cuts.
That also enabled the refunds that we all received this year and also in 2003.
September 11 was not a foreseeable issue and therefore the war was not initially intended to be an expense.
Much of what has happened in the last two or three years has been in the making for over 20 years and finally blew up and that is Americans borrowing more than they could pay back. Along with companies outsourcing jobs. Other than oil companies ripping people off at the gas pump shipping jobs overseas and poorly managed loans are the other 2 worst things that can happen to an economy. I dont really think the President has much to do with any of those things. If he does I would be curious to know how he can prevent that. Because if there is a way and he just has ignored it I haven't noticed that.
I do overall think Bush has been a better than average President.
I agree with Kimm and Phil that the worst thing Obama an congress can do at a time like this is raise taxes on companies for the reasons said. Thunderbird on this forum, obviously you know he is my brother, has said that some layoffs would be on the horizon if taxes are increased for his company.
Although My father who started that business in 1963 always bought Ford trucks and the business between pickup trucks and vans and big dumptrucks owns more than 70 Ford trucks my brother said they're planning on replacing 5 trucks this year.
With General Motors in more trouble than Ford Thunderbird said he might consider buying 2 Fords and 2 Chevrolets and 1 GMC to spread it around if that's something our family can do for the American and global economy. Note. My father has not approved the buying of non-Ford trucks yet but it's Thunderbird's decision now anyway.
-wink-
I really dont see the economic downturn as Bush' s fault at least not to the degree he has been blamed for it. I do give him a lot of credit for security and strength.
Like Phil and Ordinaryguy I'm willing to give the president elect a fair chance but I also voted McCain.

That's what is so great about the kind of discussion we have here. You can disagree with reasonable respect.
I also agree that some of the troubles we are facing have been in the making for 2 or 3 decades and they're starting to come ot a head now.
I have liked Bush for his leadership. I like his strength and I believe the person in charge needs to be decisive and sure of himself and I believe Bush is.
The same needs to come in with an optimistic approach. I hope Obama proves me wrong because I an entirely sure the 3rd world is licking their chops right now.
As for the debt and surplus that's summed up best by Jesse Ventura. He says that the democrats tend to hide the debt by raising taxes and the republicans tend to use the debt as a credit card. The 2 parties have a different approach to the debt but neither really solves it.
BTW Ventura didn't have a solution either. Larry King asked 'but an independent can solve the problems that the republicans and democrats can't?'
Ventura's only reply was 'Well, they're certainly not.'

I see Mr. Obma has a large approval rating already. What for? Ok people happy to have change? I guess I could buy that. But what has the man done in only a week even if he does turn out to be this mighty superman, his approval rating from what I read is 2nd only to Kennedy after a week on the job.
We shall see. Raising taxes are not a good idea during a recession. The Bush Tax cuts did help move the economy at the dormant times. Bush has militarily maintained a strong position that this is a country you shouldn't mess with.
Someone mentioned that we're dependent on oil rich countries that hate us. Bush wanted to drill for oil right here at home had he gotten his proposal that would have begun in 2002. He mentioned it when he took office and after September 11, 2001 he said that its even more crucial to have homeland drawn oil.
By now about 7 years later we would be putting that oil to use. Therefore be less dependent on the countries that do not like the American way of life.
I agree with most people on the idea that those countries are so culturally different they're always going to hate us.
If the liberals in congress had not blocked the Bush proposals to drill at home some of this trouble would go away.
I am of the opinion that wild life would not suffer. I have repaired and walked miles upon miles of traintracks. Somewhere along the line men entered the woods and laid these tracks down. Trains pass through like they have for more than a century and we still have wildlife.
........and that was the gospel according to Phil.

I did this vid just before heading to work. I don't want to seem like nothing but an Obama basher but this was on my mind.
Stimulous plan? That might work. That would take less out of the federal withholdings of people working and add to the unemployment funds.
It still depends on people being employed to raise the money. It's a counterclockwise approach but it's not that different from the Bush tax cuts that the Obama campaign condemned. I see it as almost the same thing though.

I don't know about that Stimulus Plan Phil, that's kind of Pork Barrelish. I don't' see it as being like a tax cut.
I see you're doing some advertising for the company you work for. J/K you explained that you were going to upload that and go to work.
That room that you blog from often is that like an office in your house?

That room that you blog from often is that like an office in your house? Kind of. I have a desk and file cabinet office like look. It's a carpeted room in my basement. You might have noticed from my outside blogs that my lot is kind of hilly. So what happens is the back of my yard lowers to the point where the basement at the back of the house is ground level. So that room that I have made into an office curves around and that red door I sometimes stand in front of goes to the outside. If you come in that red door you can go left and into the basement or right up some stairs and end up in our kitchen. However from the front yard the ground level would be like most houses. And the front door would be at 1st floor level. I would show more of the house in my blogs but that worries my wife a bit so I have agreed not to. That's why I either film from my basement den, in front of a door or a plane wall or right up against the house so not enough can be seen. My wife seems to have this fear that stalkers could come bother us if they knew where we live. People who could bother us already know that but if it makes her feel better I'll do it that way. I also had to agree not to film the front of the house from the street for the same reason. That's more than you really wanted to know I'm sure.

I see some of your later blogs you have kind of given a perk to your company. You have had a work sweatshirt on in at least three of your blogs.
