We all know someone who has a 'Handicap Parking' permit that they hang on their rear-view mirror or a license plate that allows them to park in those special spots near the entrance of the market.
We've also witnessed how an ably-bodied spouse will abuse that privelidge by parking in one of those spots and hop out - by themselves - just to get a closer parking spot.
But, my grief today doesn't involve one of those spouses. It involves ones obsession to use that spot, legitimately, to no end - given outside situations.
Here's the situation:
Recently, I decided it was time to shave my head.
Half way through my 27 year old shaver decided to die on me, so I headed down to the local Meijer to buy a replacement.
So, there I am, in the parking lot, when I notice a Chrysler minivan pulls up toward the handicap parking area.
There laid only one spot left in the sought after privileged spots but, alas, a rogue shopping cart had somehow occupied the space - no doubt left there by a previous disabled citizen who couldn't make it to the cart corral, or may-haps a lazy denizen who didn't care.
So, the disabled has a choice:
He either has to stop his vehicle and get out to remove the offending trolley.
Push the cart out of the way with his front bumper, or.......
....PARK IN THE "REGULAR FOLKS SPOT RIGHT NEXT TO IT".
Guess which one he did.
What is it with people's obsession with these spots?
Just because you have the right to park in those spots it doesn't mean you have to park in those spots.
Especially if your 'handicap' only involves using a cane (which turned out to be this one's disability).
I personally know 3 people who are like this (and their spouses who abuse it on solo ventures).
What about you?
