I can't believe it's going to be 2009 in just shy of 6 hours. I'll be at work this evening and while the new year comes in. That's all right that's just the nature of my job. I can't crow much because I have mostly gotten what I wanted with off time and holidays.
I remember being at work the night of the Y3K scare. Yeah it has been 9 years already.
Well I was out there like everybody wondering if the trains and regulated crossing lights draw bridges and everything else that's regulated was just going to either shut right off or go haywire.
I was confident enough that that wouldn't happen. However some people weren't so sure.
I still think a lot of people were disappointed that there wasn't a disaster or a series of them. But Y2K came in without a hitch just like every years before and after.
We still received a ton of calls but they were all pretty much made up paranoia.

Last night was a lot tamer than New Years eve to work through though. It seemed like a dream after all the rowdys people in the bag shouting and calling that things were happening being sent out as a formality because if you ignore it you violate federal laws. But you already know it's a hoax before you head out.

I'm glad last night was easier. Full moons are for real.
Speaking of full moons, this happened three years ago. I was playing 3rdbase and the field announcer ( it was a full moon that night) announced prizes that they offer only on nights that have a full moon. I was on the visiting team so I didn't know they did that. Well the announcement came about a full moon game quiz during the 7th inning stretch. So this big guy stood on the dugout and said "Here's a full moon prize" And you guessed it he mooned the stadium.
Had that been Yankees stadium or anything on a national venue he would have been ushered out and arrested. Since it was just AA they escorted him off the dugout and I doubt they threw him out or arrested him. Obviously its ok to moon AA players.

I can't believe we're already to the tenth. It seems 2008 just flew by. Every year seems to go faster but this was the quickest for me without a doubt.

Does anyone have any New Year's resolutions?
Being a single guy once again, I'm working on making myself more desirable to wimmens. I'm eating better, trying to be more active, dressing better, etc. Gotta make myself more marketable, ya know.

This year kinda sucks for me. I MAKE TOO MUCH MONEY!!! Let me explain: I live on farm land (sectioned out but, still classified as such) and my house was built in 1953. In '53 Eisenhower was trying to get everyone to move back to the countryside - instead of flowing into the cities - so he came up with the 'Rural Housing Development' program (similar to the 'FHA' of today - only for farmers). The benefits of this include: 3% interest on the mortgage - fixed. Monthly minimum payments are based on annual income (from harvest, etc). Frankly, I was paying $510 a month to buy my house and making quite the dent into the principle. Well, since this year I got promoted to Regional Manager with a nice raise and a bump in my monthly profit share percentage and now I make too much money for the program (the based on income part). I now have to pay the capped monthly minimum payments but, I still have the 3% interest part. But, now Obama is going to want to take all my 'extra profits' to "spread the wealth around". This sucks. I have no New Years resolutions. I'm already perfect - except the 'seed' thing.

I don't make resolutions either.
My take on that right here.
I don't mean to stick my face on your computer everytime there's a chance to make a point but that's my feeling about resolutions.
Mahnarch, you need to be more patriotic and pay extra taxes, didn't you hear Mr. Biden about that? Other congress people too. Yeah the same people that found money in the budget to raise their pay an additional $4600 a year.

I am similar to Mahnarch and Phil on my Republican leaning views. I don't think raising taxes is a way to improve the economy.
I don't think anything that makes people apprehensive about having spendable money is helpful because when people are uneasy they tend to not even spend the disposable money they do have.

I would wait until the last minute to do my homework back elementary school, but when I reached middle school, I would do my homework on Friday night. A few of my friends thought I was weird for doing my homework on a Friday night, but while I was relaxing on Saturday and Sunday, they were complaining about all the work they had to do. ;D
