how can congreas people vote on themselves a pay raise when they keep saying theres no money if theres enough money for all of them to get 4500 a year more then instead of that some of who have never yet been sworn in to office how can they get a raise when they keep saying there s no money and people need to pay more taxes?
joe biden kept saying people need to be more patriotic and pay more in taxes
if the money is there for them to get a raise why didnt they say no we get paid a lot already but use that money to pay the compays that are in fiscal trouble?

my dad hates congress people I don't hate them. I just don't think it's fair that they can vote to raise our taxes and use that money to increase their salary by taking a vote. Joe Biden said we all need to be more patriotic and pay extra taxes to help us out of the financial jam the nation is in right now. If that's the case the congress should be more patriotic and decline the salary increase and apply that money that is obviously in the budget towards helping the financial troubles we are having as a nation. The congress of all people need to be more patriotic.

They have it made in congress. They vote on things hold up progress and blame the President when it doesn't work out. When something does work out they say it stemmed from the (insert name) bill.
I was not in favor of this but I was outvoted is a popular plea of the congress."
how your dad feels he doesn't hate the congressional members but they're way of life gets stale after a while. They vote on things that raise your taxes and the tax increase ends up being their pay raise that they get to vote in.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I feel I work hard everday and pay increases come or not based on time reasonable 'cola' and if someone in charge feels you have excelled beyond the work capabilities you had been operating with previously once that is decided then you get a raise. You get no vote on that matter whatsoever.

How did I ever miss this topic? I have always felt that there should be a set standard that they receive a percentage pay increase over 12 or 16 years or whatever. Nothing like voting on a pay increase. Like Phil said especially on the issue of our nation in a recession there's no possible way there could be money in the budget to give congress a pay raise.

It does seem that congress can do whatever they want and that they're above the law. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has gone ahead and appointed a replacement for Barrack Obama's Senate seat even with all the heat on him. I guess he is not going to resign they're either going to have to remove him or nothing. What will probably happen is by the time he is due for reelection they'll forget and he will be reelected.
Its not really that they will forget but they aren't going to care anymore by then.

I see Phil mentions this in a video blog already.

Blagojevich has decided he is not going to take any responsibility for what happened or even admit he did something wrong so he will just keep acting as the governor.
