All right. This topic is two fold. First I would like you to tell us what you would like for Christmas and second I would like you to wish something for others.
I will post my wishes but I will do it after a few other members post theirs.

I Have had a pretty good year with my career change and new job at Wal Mart . I really don't want much. I like to take care of myself that way, but if a had a wish? Shoes, shoes shoes! I love new shoes! As for my Christmas wish to all my family and friends. " To Know the love of God and to all have Peace in there lives."

I don't want much, either. I could use a new PSP screen, but what I really want for Christmas is to have enough money to get presents for the people that I care about. (Thankfully, that is going to be possible now - I found some odd jobs that I can do between now and then, so I'm pretty happy.) My wish for my friends and family is that we have a blast at our Christmas party this year. ;D _glitch_

For myself I just want to be assured that I can always be a provider for my wife and my children. Jobs are in danger all across the board because of panic. Some real some imagined but as a result a lot of people aren't using services and that effects everybody.
So you never know when budget cuts could come into your life. So far there's been no serious worries around the rumor mill but if something did happen to my job I would hope that I can move into something equal or at least feasible.
I guess I would wish the same for others. Car industry employees can keep their jobs and more industry comes here at home and that brings security in jobs and a happier feeling overall.

I will answer this but I'm too tired to give the thought it should get right now.

For myself: I would really like the show Little Britain on DVD. It's a British Comedy on BBC America, for those of you who have never heard of it.
For everyone else: For security in their jobs so they can keep on providing for their families. Hopefully the economy will improve in the future.

For me I guess I would like to be sure that I can have a tenured position.
I think security in jobs for everybody and the hope of being well treated by those we all come in contact with.

What kind of guitar would you get? I have spent big bucks for baseball gloves. I go through them though. I know how the difference can feel when you're into something when other people say things like "300 or 400 bucks for a BASEBALL GLOVE!?" If you play on a recreation team that is too much money. If you play for a living you have to have every advantage you can. It's probably the same thing with the guitar.

My father and I had a conversation about jobs. My dad said something really interesting. He said that for years people tried to get jobs with the larger companies because they're more secure in terms of more likely to stay around. They are also usually able to afford higher salaries and more health benefits.
But now at this struggled time, it might be more secure to work for a smaller business.
If you haven't been there as long but you're a better worker the people making those decisions are more likely to know you. The CEO at Ford doesn't know the guy personally who torques cylinder head bolts. But the owner of a 30 employee business knows you. So even if you have not been there as long the owner might know you're more qualified or more able and take you over someone who has been there longer.
Some computer regulated statiscit doesn't judge the importance of your job either.
While the place I work for is regulated by a larger company the the actual group that employes me is a private subcontractor.

That's a good point Phil. Thunderbird will attest to that in the family business who might have more time on the job or who hypothetically seems to be more important is not necessarily in real life.
The managerial positions might have more importance but if the truth is told and cuts needed to happen I'm sure that my brothers would hang onto their builders before they gave much thought to cutting estimators and associate managers.
Just like in a baseball team situation the manager might be the boss but the star players are way harder to replace if it came down to it.
There's no seniority at all in sports its all about how well you can play right now.
To answer the original wishes of the topic that I promised to say but I waited.
I would wish that traditional companies like Ford, General Motors, Levis jeans, and cooperations that originated out of the United States continue to operate in the US. I would not like to see the companies disappear and I would not like to see the jobs lost. So that means I would not like them to outsource their work either.

I got my wish an ipod. i got a lot of neat stuff my brother was in lala land. That's a very exciting time when you're your brother's age. I remember being about five around Christmas time. My brothers made it a lot of fun though it looks like you do that for your younger brother and sister.
