John Lennon died on this date in 1980. That was a tragic event not only because of a death and a murder and the 1st famous time that an entertainer was killed that way.
I was 9 years old and had some knowledge of the Beatles and their history and the fact that they broke up a few years earlier. But that December 8 1980 was not about death at our house it was about life.
I have said enough that my mother had miscarriages in 1974, 1977 and 1978. That has been hard for all of us and still is.
On that day my brother Alan was born. So today marks the 28th anniversary of Lennon's murder but the birthday of my brother.

That's interesting. Tomorrow is my birthday.
With three sorrowful miscarriages in Phil's family the follow up is a miraculous birth. And the birth of your brother would be the very same day as John Lennon's death.
I'm sure that following the last three misfortunes your brother was a cherished baby. Not that all babies shouldn't be but there's obviously a special happening in a birth under those conditions.

You have told the story about yourself being first, then three miscarriages then your Brother and then your Sister a short time later. I did not realize that the eighth was the Anniversary of John Lennon's death though.

Imagine a birth on The day of John Lennon's death I wonder if you can
Imagine an anxious mother, before had lost 3 others Its easy if you try
Imagine a new baby bringing his family... to harmony.
I hope someday you'll join us and the world is peaceful.

With my birthday being on the 9th, I have spent my birhtday every year except for about 5 of them hearing about John Lennon so I became a Beetles fan that way. It might seem morbid but I'm very serious.

I know one of the last (or last) person to talk to Lenon in person. He was shot walking home from a recording studio and my dad's friend was recording him. For a while after he was traumatized and blamed himself for Lenon's death but he got over that.

How can it be his fault? I guess you blame yourself in that situation that's the same as if I go to a pizza place and my order is wrong so I wait for them to remake it and on my way home I get killed by someone who runs a red light and hits my car broadside. Then the pizza cook believing that had he made the pizza right the first time I would have been through that intersection fifteen minutes earlier and would not have been broadsided.
I understand feeling that way but destiny finds a way no matter what you do. If it was Mark David Chapman's intention to shoot John Lennon he would have waited longer, or even another day perhaps even gone to another city if that was his determination.

I forgot what show I saw this on, but they were talking about John Lennon's death. Anyway they were showing an interview from back in the 60s, back when The Beatles were still together. Anyway, when one reporter asked John Lennon how he thought he was going to die, he actually paused, then said, "I'll probably be knocked off by some looney." That was really freaky.

I've heard that he had said that too. That's strange intuition or maybe he was just talking and the coincidence was just unusual that happens too sometimes.

The Beetles are one of those immortal bands. I am 34, so I was born after the Beetles broke up too. When Lennon was killed was about ten years after the Beetles break up and yet they're still selling music.
