On the way home from work, we stopped all of a sudden. 4 deer were crossing the road, and not too far in front of us. My mom hit one a couple years ago, it wouldn't have been cool. I've seen them in daylight, but at night in woods lined road it's scary.

They ran into the woods on the other side, but for a second one stopped to look. Last week wild turkeys were gathered by the roadside too, but stayed on the grass.

They have a way of just running out and sometimes they run into the car not the otherway around.

They're really a fabulous animal. And they're all over the place out here. I get deer running through my yard often at night. Sometimes they chew on your bushes but I guess every animal needs to eat.
They are kind of reckelss about running across the street though and that's why they so often get hit by cars because they just dart across and its usually not 1 it's usually 2 or more. I've nudged a deer on 3 occasions in my driving life and came close more than 30 times.
I've always nudged the deer when I was almost stopped I've never actually killed the deer. I dont' mind hunting or anything but I would feel really bad if I killed it. Once the poor thing limped around for a while the police officer said if he doesn't run off in a few minutes he would have to shoot the deer but the deer eventually ran off limping. I don't know how he made out after that but I felt so bad about it.
But there's nothing you can do.

As with most animals, the deer really has no choice at night but to stop and look, not out of curiosity but vehicle lights (especially the high beams) completely blind them, so they just stand there curious due to them not being able to see.

That's true Maggotfarm808. For the most part deer are a gentle animal that would rather be left alone and they would leave you alone. They're not of an agressive nature at all.

They've got eyes on the side of the head, not the front. I don't know how good deer can see, but if they look in the direction of the light, wouldn't it no longer be directly in their face?

Theyre so graceful when they jump fences and run really fast.

Well, yesterday was the first day of rifle season. Did anybody get one? I'm not a hunter myself, but I'm very much in favor of hunting ('cos venison is tasty!).

Apparently, you've never seen bucks in rutting season. Heh-heh. They've been known to attack hunters and hikers, too. But, it's true. deer are for the most part gentle. Just don't get in between him and his woman. *** For the record: I've hit 3 deer in my life. Killed one.

I never really think of deer as being violent but I know that any wild animal can be.
