okokokok...full of nervous energy!
firstly, I havn't been a massice poster recently, been doing a lot of sailing and general work about the place.
heres the real news!:
i was offered a gig at a cousins going away party here in the village. she's going to south africa to builf houses I think. I don't know a massive amount about it (but its a good thing anyway).
the party is on in oranmores liveliest pub atm. so its bound to be packed! its just me and my two guitars! (plus two 12" speakers and a mixer and several feet of cable and wiring!)
ok, typing at about mach four right now! trying to keep up with my mind!. and yes I am aware I am using alot of exclamation marks as punctuation! thats just how I feel!
anyway, i'm heading off now to pack all my gear into a car so I can hopefully get it back together again in 30 minutes time.
i'll update later (or will i??? lol) after the gig if it goes well.... or not.
good luck to all of you's

Wow man! I've heard you sing and play before, and you're pretty good. Best of luck with the gig - you gotta let us know how it goes! I want pictures, video, audio clips, and firsthand testimonials from the spectators. Seriously, I'm pumped for you / would kill to have such an opportunity to display my work. Way to go! _glitch_

woo! thanks guys. unfortunately _glitch_, there was only one camera in the building....being manned by some wierd looking freaky chick with a limp....i doubt i'll ever see it. oh, wait, my uncle used his camera phone for a bit, ill get that! the gig went extraordinarily well. I left the house at 9:00pm and began setting up at 9:05 (its very near my house! lol) i was set up by 9:30 completely. my mixer was tuned to the room and all levels were checked and fixed. then I waited to start at 10, just to give the party a chance to fill up. i started with "galway girl" by mundy (this song www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNxMHJ8YWa4)the whole crowd got going, everyone knows that song here (in galway ) so every one was singing along. then I moved on to "RAIN", my own of course, which went down well! then there was whiskey in the jar and of course everyone knew that too! i then switched guitars from my electro acoustic to my electric lead, just cause its much easier to play. to do an instrumental piece I kind of made up and then metallicas nothing else matters. after that, I played falling slowly, by the frames (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGJ8dY_IcgE) someone in the crowd seemed to love it. when I was starting, I played a few bars of it. he recognised it and ran up to me (i'm thinking WTF?) and asked if it was that song. I said ya it was and he said I was a legend and walked off. yay! legendary. so I played afew more, including chords of a torn heart (which again went down well) stuck in the middle with you, by steelers wheels, and the fratellis "whistle for the choir" as a finallé! it went so well, they asked me back up on stage to replay the first three and add whatever I could. so I played them, and improv'd for a while. im a very happy little guitar man!"

It's great that they asked you to play there again.
Pretty soon you could become a feature. A guy I went to high school with performs every Wednesday at a place in town. It's not his job or anything but he did pretty much what you are doing now. He was in a band and they performed at fairs and clubs.
His band got that gig at this bar where he still performs. Other members stopped playing or moved out of town he became individual and for about 15 years every Wednesday with very few exceptions he plays at the same place.
You might be able to take your music farther than that though.

to be honest. the last thing I would like to be doing is playing int he same place for 15 years. at that stage, if I did not break through, I would try a different route. write my own songs, put tegother a demo, send it to radio stations, try and get some airplay, try to get noticed by a record company, and get a full album down. thats my plan of action!

Whoa! aido is the new John Lennon on Lewasite!!
I can play 'Nothing Else Matters', too! One of my first.
I can pretty much do anything by Nirvana, too (not that it's hard) Some G N' R, too. (some).
I have a delay box, so I can do the intro to 'Welcome to the Jungle' but, I can't get the rythm of when to shut it off without messing up.
I fear playing in front of people. I applaud you!

I think it's great that you enjoy that so much. I also give you a lot of credit because that's the undoing of a lot of people.
I remember that once a poll of fears was taken and speaking/performing in front of a group was higher than death for most fearful things.
