A few days ago my son was off from school for a 'teachers conference.'
Well he had some of his classmates over. They were all running wild and raising heck in the back yard, bikes skateboards, swings the whole 9.
Well a lot of the kids had names that were never a 1st name when I was their age but always a last name.
There were boys named Donovan, Tyler, Porter and Baxter. There was a girl named McKensie too.
He had some other kids over but they had names that I am used to like David, John, Jennifer, Ronnie and Lisa.
But there were 5 or 6 kids with a 1st name I always knew as last names.

I think Donovan is also the real first name of the Boxer Razor Riddick too. But I know what you're saying there's a lot of new names compared to how things always were.
My Family and Classic's all have traditional names. And as stated before my Sons are Jacob and John.
I like some of the newer names but I don't know what ones I would choose. I have known that sometimes a Maiden name becomes a Child's first name.

Us too. We have Jason, Eric and Emily.
But some modern names are kind of cool in an original way.

I like some of the modern names.
I dont know what I would name my kids yet though.
My age group seemed to be the beginning for names like Cory, Cody, Tyler, Lana, Star, Kaitlyn and such.

Donovan isn't that unusual, really. I mean, it's just the longer version of the popular name 'Don'. I've never heard of a 'Mr. Donovan' or 'Mrs. Donovan' before and have only ever considered it as a first name.

I always thought of Donald as the long version of Don. But I know what you're saying.

To me all these names sound pretty normal. Well, except for Moondoggy and Engelbert.

I personally feel bad for so many children in the future thanks to parents who want "creative" names. I hear horrible ideas like "Ziggy" "Bunny" "Link" "Apple". What ever happened to the good old names like "Frederick" and "Susan"? Although I dislike most ideas, some alright "creative" ones I've heard are "Vincent" "Ganon" and "December"
