Well, I finally got it all back today. I’m close to being poor now from all the front end work that needed to be done. My dad helped me out some by paying for roughly half of the $795 front end job. But the new shoes do make up for it a little bit. With them on there it feels like an entirely different truck. It sits up higher, rides a lot smoother and a ton more aggressive, and looks completely different. Here are those pictures I promised. So, what do you guys (and girls) think of the new shoes?

Hmm.
If I were driving semi, right now, I call out on the CB, "Hey there, Drivers. Keep your eyes open for a Smokey wrapped in a plain black wrapper."
Then there'd be a 5 mile radius of tractor/trailers (and four wheelers listening in) hitting their brakes.
Your ride looks pretty sweet but, you better get a vanity plate that says: "I 8nt ONE".
Or, "No Po".
Or, "No Bears."
Or, "Not Smokey."
Or, "No Gumballs."
Otherwise, you're going to spook a lot of drivers, bro! And, you better get used to following a lot of drivers doing 1-2mph under the speed limit.

Cool! By the way, I haven't seen a cop that looks like this in Jersey. (Sorry guys, I'm kinda drunk. I just got home from seeing Rush in concert. ;D)

Rush. Yeah buddy. I like Rush too.
The new wheels are a great addition for the Blazer.

The MSP around here, as well as Ottawa County drive around in Tahoes/Blazers that are black on black.
The 'Plain Wrapper' comes from not having lights on top and all hidden in the grill and tinted window.
I'd say you were the fuzz, if I spotted you on 'the 196'.

The screws? That's a new word for me. I've heard 'bear' 'smoky' 'oinker' 'fuzz' never a 'screw' though. I'll have to start using that.

The problem with being a - or being mistaken for a - bear is that everyone in front of you is going to be following, strictly, to the speed limit - if not a mile or two an hour under it.
So, plan for extra drive time when you go out.
***
That's what I always hated about driving the police cruisers.
You pull up to a 4-way stop sign and everyone waits for YOU to go first.
You have a line of five cars all going 5mph under the speed limit (or following a farm tractor) and no one will pass him, so you're stuck back there, too.
No one will turn right on red when it's clear.
...and you can't draft anyone on the highway without freaking them out.
Also, if you break down and pull over to the side of the road - no one will stop to help you out.

Found out today (after driving about 60 miles up and back for a stupid, unpaid meeting for my job. )that I have a hole in my muffler. I was driving home from this meeting when I started to wonder what in the world was rumbling under my feet. I get back to our office and found out; my engine is about twice as loud now. A small hole has formed in my muffler. I'm going to hang with it for two reasons. 1. I kinda like the louder engine. 2. I can't afford the custom dual exhaust I was planning on getting eventually. I'll post a video on youtube tomorrow, and then I'll post it here.

No! Don't do a custom dual job. Go down to your local Carquest and get a pre-bent system. First, off, do you have a hitch? Not the bumper one but, a 'Reese' hitch? Is it less than a class III? If it's a smaller one - go down to Carquest and order up a 'Cherry Bomb "Vortex"' dual exhaust kit. The muffler is a 'single in/dual out' design with pre-bent tailpipes that fit neatly next to your 'Reese' hitch. (and it sounds awesome - lots of growl on accel. Pretty quiet on idle.) That system will last about 4-5 years. It's all 'bolt on' but, you will have to buy some hangers for the non-stock pipes. You'll end up with: A 'Cherry Bomb Vortex' muffler - 3' single inlet/2 1/4" dual outlet muffler. Two pre-bent 2 1/4" tailpipes. 1 3" muffler clamp. 6+/- 2 1/4" tailpipe clamps. 4 universal hangers (for the tailpipes) All for about $225 - if the prices haven't gone up. And, it sounds awesome! I have one on my '95 GMC K1500. Everything is 'bolt on' so you can do it right in your own driveway. (although, you have to get creative with the universal hangers) My system is a 'straight out the back' design. They do make the '45 degree' and '90 degree', also - if you wanna look like a wuss.....or transport cattle....(or children - same thing, really.... ) [Disclaimer: Although I am a HUGE advocate for the local mom and pop operations, the only reason I'm suggesting you going to a local chain "box store" is because of your recent suspension/steering costs. Otherwise, I'd say, "Let Dave handle it." - I also just love the sound of my own truck that much.]

Hmmm. I might have to look into doing that. I'm pretty bad with working on cars but I do have a friend who is good with cars and stuff like that.
Is your 95 GMC the SUV or the pickup? Just wondering because I looked for pictures of it and came up with both.

How's the Blazer running for you Jersey?

How's the Blazer running for you Jersey? Runs meaner, louder, and way up higher. The new tires are a bit bigger so the ride feels a whole lot more stable. I also don't mind the hole in my muffler since it makes my engine sound badass. Anyway, I appreciate what Mahnarch suggested on exhaust options. I also just found out that my high school still owes me $500 bucks in scholarship money. See if we can get that straightened out and I'm well on my way to being back in business moneywise. I find it amusing that my truck looks like a police truck. Because now that Mahnarch told me that, every time I look I realize he's right. I have new graphics for the truck coming next week. A friend is making them for maybe a pack of Marlboro lights at most. ;D I'll make sure I put pictures of them up. Also, I'll make sure I post a video of my busted muffler making all kinds of noise.

I have the GMC K1500 Extended Cab pick=up. The only differences in the exhaust are: "I" need a longer inlet pipe from the catalytic converter and two short 'extension pipes' behind the mufflers before the regular tailpipes start - to make up for the extra length.
So, there it is,,,Po Po....lol!
Do the graphics your friend is doing include a 'Sheriff'-shaped insignia?
HA!

Does less exhaust pipe make it faster too? My Dad says some old cars would get better gas mileage without emissions devices but most newer cars of the last ten years would not run as well and possibly not at all without everything it was designed to have because the extra items are part of the design at the time the cars are built.

Hehe, not necessarily faster but, stronger.
Exhaust can effect torque if it's too restricted - which I guess would slow you down from stop signs.
Your dad is right, of course. Back in the day when 'emissions' were just starting to be a big thing they put WAAY too many extra sensors and actuators that were (mostly) vacuum operated.
After a few years the actuator stems would get brittle and break off, leading to a vacuum leak - which dropped horsepower - which made you use more gas pedal to do the same job and using more fuel.
If you take all that crap off and plug the vacuum lines with a small screw you'll get better performance.
Now-a-days, however, the engineers have learned all of 'our' tricks, so they involved the computer in more jobs.
If you get a bad Mass Air Flow sensor, now, you can't just unplug it....and you're stranded alongside the road. You can still unplug the Exhaust Gas Recirculator (EGR) valve but, you'll have to stare at a bright orange 'Check Engine' light.
Dang engineers.
