I was doing some research on the ol' family name - rekindling what my grandfather had started before he passed away (when I was a teen/20een and 'didn't care') and found a deep, dark secret that I hope doesn't hurt my run for the Presidential Office. ;D I found two names: Mahn, Friedrich-Karl and, Mahn, Werner. They can both be found in this listThe list is all alphabetical, and what. So they should be easily located. Now, I know, for a fact that Werner is/was my great-grandfather's cousin but, I'm not sure about Friedrich-Karl. I know that there is a Friedrich in the family but, the Karl part is throwing me off. Does anyone know about German-proper naming schemes and if that 'Karl' part can invalidate or verify a lineage? I know some German but, not German stuff. I wish I hadn't ignored my grandpa when I was younger. (This is all father's side, if you couldn't tell. I haven't looked up Lange stuff, yet.) 'Mahnken' is not us.....I think. *** If you look at it from the Nazi POV, it's not really a 'Dark Secret' but, an honorable lineage. But, then again, there's also a point of view where murder is a 'justifiable means'.

Sometimes you can be really surprised how names take a twist.
Like John Paul Jones (according to what I have read) his name was John Paul. However because he was a hiding fugitive at the time, his Brother convinced him to go by John Paul Jones pretending his last name was his middle name. With fewer ways to chase a man down in those days a subtle change like that could keep his identity close and yet different enough. With Paul now a middle name he would be introduced as John Jones.
There's many stories like that. Celebrities who change their name eventually the old Family roots could be lost easily.

Hmm, interesting concept, BG.
I do know that the Friedrich that my grandfather had found was a farmer from Stuttgart but, that doesn't mean that a simple farmer in the old country couldn't have taken up arms and become a Captain in the Luftwaffe.
Oh, man! I wish I'd paid more attention to gramps when I was younger. This just goes to show how kids tend to throw valuable things away.
I remember the last time I saw my grampa alive and 'well'. I heard his voice coming down the hall and I rolled my eyes before trying to get away from him.
A week later my mother called me at work to tell me that he was rushed to the hospital. ...he was gone before I got there.

I've been having a lot of 'Grandpa' memory flashes, lately.
His birthday was March 3. He would've been 70 this year.
He died on August 3. I was born on May 3. My sister on June 3. We had a dog, growing up, registered birth on October 3. My dad was born May 30. My mom, May 15 (half of 30 and five times 3 - which '5' is "half" in decimal points.)
Now that I think about it, my Aunt, dad's side, was born April 3 (which I should give her a phone call [belated B-day])
July 3 is the day before Independence Day.
I was 'married' July 30 - and that lasted 3 years.
Thanksgiving is the 3rd thursday of Novemer.
Something about 3s is making me nervous.

So 3 is the reoccurring number for you Mahnarch. I'll just take Spartan and Nitro's word for it.
I have always liked the number 4 but I don't really have a good reason. I was born on the 14th but I doubt that's why.

Three nipples?! Oddly enough, I've seen that before so I can believe it. As far as Nitro: You may have a challenge on your hands...... Carl: "Two fellers standin' on a bridge, goin' bat'room. One feller says water's cold. Other feller says water's deep.......git it?"*** Phil; Yes, 3s have been a very large part of my life. I could name the entire list but, we'd all be here for days - three of them, actually. Mom's current address is 3 numbers and she's on the third road. I grew up in the third house from the intersection where, coincidently, the address had a '3' in it but, was 4 digits long. (It was still a mile from the intersection but, only two other houses were on that road at the time - where it's basically a suburb, today). I'm 3 times older the Possum Jenkins...and probably 3 feet taller. (No. That would only make him 3ft tall. Maybe if I was 8ft 5in....then I would be.) 4 is a good number, too. You can play the four digit lottery (they have lottery in Penn?) and the winnings are higher.

I know numbers are huge for people. Classic has worn the number 8 all of his Pro career and the fact that that number was not taken made being traded this past offseason easier for him.

Hmm, '8'.
8 minus 3 is 5. I was born in May, the fifth month.
4 times 2 is 8 - and there are two Ostrotkiewicz..ii. on here.
8, 2 times is 16. Isn't Aido 16?
I'm trying to get a nice 'Lewa' number circle going, here.

You're good at making it all fit. You could be a trial lawyer. What's the significance of 6/14/1971? Does that work well with anything in this forum?

HA! You're two months older than my Gran Torino!
Amazingly, you can still read the door jamb sticker and even though it's a '72', it was built in August of '71 (they don't say what day, though).
***
6/14, take away your favorite number (4) and you've got 2/14.
2/14 is Valentine's Day.
Feb. is only 28 days long, except this year it was 29 - one extra day.
6+1+4+1+9+7+1=....holy crap!! '29'!
What did you do for Valentine's and/or Leap Day this year?
See? The numbers fit, you must acquit!

I do my best. I can come up with 'Random Math' on the spot. What's your B-day, BG? (Just the Month and day, if you're not willing to provide, otherwise? [I'll default to 1931 if you don't provide] Aaannnd, what's your favorite color? What size shoe do you wear? Who knows what'll come out in the end! Maybe you signed the Declaration of Independence! *** You know, it just occurred to me: I never did do an "Exclusive" thread with you (non-invasive, of course). I'll have to get on that. I've got some time, right now...... *after posting this, I'm working on basic questions*
