Thanks for your advice I respect your opinion. And for the most part I agree with it. I have already explained (At least I think I have) my picks and why. I will reexplain if need be.

Eheh.. er.. yes. I think we can file that under "civilised arguments". Shouldn't all of that been in personal messages anyway?
In any case, I give my sympathies to Phil and hope the cleanup isn't too difficult. I'd like to know what the chemicals were too.

No, this wasn't a personal problem. It needed to be public.

Classicblast used a perfect analogy to express why I became part of the moderating team. While it may be somewhat fair to say I don't know a whole lot about video games, it is not, however, fair to say that because of that I have no right to help moderate. TC23, while you were gathering evidence like my post count, did you happen to notice that I only frequent the areas like Sports, Politics, General Discussion, Forum Games, sometimes Entertainment? Quite frankly, this board is NOT all about video games. Even if it was in fact constructed for that purpose, it eventually evolved into something a lot more than that. This place turned into a forum where basically anyone could go and post messages and have a good time. I also need to mention that someone very rarely makes any posts in the video game sections at all! There hasn't been a single new post in General Programming since November, Works in Progress since October, Soda Programs since September, and Constructor since late December. Those who have made recent posts in Art and Soldat are very few members, maybe about five or six. That to me is about 15 % of the boards active membership. So don't tell me that this forum is all about video games, because it is not.
The reason why I edited the second post to this topic was because it could VERY EASILY be interpreted as something rude. This is especially due to the fact that Phil and Serival (tmtd) have had many disagreements in the past. I was actually attempting to try and prevent what might have been a viscious argument before it happened. There is a lot of bad blood on this forum and a lot of members are highly suspicious of each other and I find that the whole place is simply loaded with distrust.
And if you are saying that I became a moderator because I "kiss up to our 'tyrant', Classicblast", you could not be more off target. I did not ASK to become part of it, and maybe in the beginning I did not want to be. Classic and I discussed it for about a week in personal messages and eventually I decided to take the plunge. More or less I saw it as an opportunity to help this forum where it needed it, because helping people and protecting them is part of my persona. I also made a promise to Classic and while it was not said, to the entire board that I would do whatever I could to help protect this board and it's members.
Classic and I also knew and discussed that my new status would not go over very well with some members, but we eventually decided that it did not matter. This is the internet after all, and not everybody is going to like everybody and some people are not going to agree with you all the time. That's something I had to think about before I even attempted to join internet discussion forums. You guys probably don't like me but frankly, I really don't care. I think Classic feels the same way, since several of you dislike him as well.
When you say I was "flaunting" my moderator status, once again you need to realize the bigger picture. Originally, I adjusted Serival's post to prevent an argument from happening. But then he went back and changed it to what it was before. This insulted me, because I saw it as a disregard for what I was attempting to do. (Avoid a problem) He very EASILY could have chosen to just PM me and ask me how come I changed his post. At that point I would have explained to him that some members, such as Shed, as well as Phil, the one who started this topic, could take his comment in a negative fashion and an argument might have been started. I believe that he is a mature person and Im certain he would have understood why I had changed it, and things would have been fine. But, he took a different route and changed it back, pissed me off, and ensued this entire debate.
I don't think I have any reason to justify my membership here to anyone. I am here to help this forum and it's members, nothing more, nothing less. Post count does not matter, it's personality and the way the person handles him/herself. If you believe it's post count, you are taking the incorrect approach. Classic gave me a job, and just like I do with any gift or opportunity I have been given in my entire life, I am going to take it seriously and do the best at it as I can. Classic knew this and that's why I was given the job.
So take this or leave it, it doesn't really matter anyway. I was given a job and Im going to do it, and do it well.

I'd just like to clear up that I was using the video game board as an analogy, and I believe Classicblast understood this as well.
The rest of your post applies more to TMTD than me.

My goodness. I never thought a train derailment was going to bring upon such discussion. But since it has this is fine. I think Jersey is and will be a good moderator for this forum. I think he has shown his intentions to be towards helping this site grow.
And I'm probably going back Monday to the scene but they haven't called me to that affect. I'm not sure exactly what chemicals were on board. Paint thinners were among the cargo but what else I don't really know.
They have lab techs going out there to test the ground the atmosphere and the vegatation. They don't think the plants are poisoned but maybe they are.
As for Classic, I have always had the utmost respect for him as an administrator and a member before that. It was him that brought a number of members to the forum when it started and him who has sought additional membership when the site was cleared out. I will go out on a limb and say this site would be dead right now if it weren't for Classicblast.
And that was an excellent analogy by the way the baseball and the work 1. Where I work seniority gets some privledges but not for rank. The railroad called a man in from Kansas and put him in charge of our department he started on January 9. I've been there 16 years and he's my boss. But I think he is going to be a good supervisor. The guy who had the job for the last 3 years was not nice or good at the job even though he always had a managment job.
So if Lewasite is a team we are led by a very good captain in the person of Classicblast.

I don't think adminning here EVER meant, "Oh I'm the boss." . Actually, yes it does. How and when you end up saying that is determined on need, I guess. But being an administrator does mean exactly that. And it's true I didn't say a whole lot of details in my original post but how is a train crashing off the track not news?

I can agree to that. Likewise, you could have PM'd me and asked why I changed it. I am not perfect, and will never claim to be. Yeah, I could have Pm'd you and let you know of the change, but you also could have done the same. Anyway, the main chemical was paint thinner? I guess you could consider those plants gonners. That stuff is nasty.

I'll first address TC23:
It's been awhile since I've actively participated in this forum. Many events, even important ones, have become distorted and maybe even lost from my memory. I don't remember you asking me about your moderator status or me saying that I'd take care of it. However, I fully believe you since you've said it happened.
Take a look at the boards that I currently am a moderator of. New Members and Sports. Rarely do I have reason to post in New Members due to the topics therein mostly consisting of greetings, and I don't share sports interests with anyone from this board. Why am I the moderator of those boards, you ask? Well, when power was shifted from Sizzlepop to Classicblast earlier in 2006, I inadvertently was revoked moderator privileges of two boards I am much better suited to moderate -- Constructor Forum and Soda Programs. The only reason I'm a moderator at all today is because I sent a personal message to Sizzlepop, asking why my moderator privileges were revoked, and he told me he would take care of the issue. I was then made moderator of two boards that, coincidentally, are both some of the least popular boards on this forum and ones that, at the time I was made moderator, I had a total of 11 posts in. Yeah, that's fair. -TC23
The implications of the above account should perhaps be revised in light of this one:
Oh, I missed one. Yeah you probably should have different moderator status. You could have mentioned that nearly a year ago. Remember when Sizzlepop was finishing the job he had taken away all moderator rights for a while until he could sort things out so all moderators, you included were appointed by me. -Classicblast
Like I said before, I don't remember what happened. Maybe I reassigned TC23 to boards of which he clearly deserved better. Maybe I let Classicblast make that decision. If the former is true, then I sincerely apologize to you, TC23. You were right to complain. If the latter is true, then I should now take the time not to condemn Classicblast's decision, but rather to share some of my experience which will hopefully reveal an essential aspect of administrative decision-making.
As lewasite's administator, I made many mistakes. From an outside perspective, some of these surely seemed no more than products of a malicious mind. Truthfully, however, I didn't intend to make everything worse. (The only mistake for which I can be legitimately accused of possessing a pernicious intent was that of my comment to SlayerX, the one that suggested a possible apathy in his parents. In that case, my mistake lay not in my words, but in the mindset I carried at the time of posting them. But I digress...) In most of these cases, the mistake resulted from a simple lack of knowledge, or an innocent failure to consider all aspects of the decision. To use TC23's case as an example (assuming I reassigned him to the unpopular boards): I wouldn't have done so if I had considered that the boards weren't well-suited for someone as special to the forum as he. As accurately as I can imagine it, I most likely forgot that moderation distribution is more than simply the number of boards a member is assigned to moderate. The error resulted from unfortunate yet in most cases harmless innocence.
Such is more often than not the truth in forum matters. Members are better than their most outspoken enemies claim them to be. If everyone tries to understand the situation from all points of view, and also tries to discuss it intelligently, only good can result. And honestly, I've seen this altruism to some degree in most, if not all, of the members involved in the current issue.
I now address tmtd: When I was active, I always sensed an insightful quality in most of your posts. This quality, while great, was often communicated in a very cryptic way. Perhaps the two qualities can't exist without each other. Regardless, sometimes a post that ambiguously presents the intent behind it causes others to doubt the well-being of your intentions. I recommend that, before posting a message, you simply ask yourself if your intentions are clear.
Perhaps some philosophy I'm quite fond of will make a good end to this post. Always remember this: to live a negative life is to live a lifetime of punishment. In other words, mistakes are punishments in and of themselves. When committed, they become part of one's history, and, if later renounced, bring about pain worthy to be called a separate punishment. If one never notices his or her iniquities and persists in ignorance, that is also its own punishment, a retribution far worse than any interpersonal confrontation.
I once thought punishment more necessary for those who did more harm. Now I view punishment as something useful only for improving the lives of those affected by the transgressor (e.g. banning a member not to make him or her miserable, but to help the discussion environment be an acceptable one for the rest of the members).
Life and communication are wonderful things. It'd be a shame to waste them in futile mud-slinging.

Anyway, the main chemical was paint thinner? I guess you could consider those plants gonners. That stuff is nasty. Oh yeah, paint thinner is a nasty thing. And I'm not sure how fightable fires like that would be it might just have to burn out. Tires are like that too. They're not real smotherable when they burn and usually just have to burn up. PS Please notice I changed TC23 to the boards that are more to his interest.

All I know is that I'm a supposed moderator on the Entertainment board, yet I have no mod powers. I can edit the news fader and lock/move/bump/sticky threads... yeah that's fun.

Sounds like the same problem skier1 is having. I think it has something to do with the constraints they've been putting on gmods, considering you're both gmods and you're both having the same problem.

Well I had to go back to Kentucky Sunday morning and we were there until late last night.
I have a couple days off for going to Kentucky. We have as much clean up as our department can do but there's lots more work in general that needs to be addressed. But the evacuations are no longer necessary and the tracks are operable.
