On this day in 1980 2 things happened. John Lennon was killed. And my brother Alan was born. Alan's birth was miraculous to our family as my mother had had 3 miscarriages. I was born in 1971, but the miscarriages happened in 1974, 1977 and 1978. When she was expecting Alan there wasn't a lot of confidence because of what had happened. But it was December of 1980 and I was in 4th grade an early Christmas present happened. I had a brother and my mother had successfully had a baby. *Our sister was born in February of 1982.*
Later that night we heard news of John Lennon being killed in New York City.
Anyway happy birthday Alan.
