That's just fantastic.
He just turned twenty-three years old and he is the first rookie in Red Sox history to get a no hitter and he did so in his second Major League start.

When this happens that means 1 of 2 things. Usually the guy is either the next Cy Young superstar pitcher or that was his 1 moment of glory.

But it was against the Baltimore Orioles, so it doesn't really count

But it was against the Baltimore Orioles, so it doesn't really count That's not nice. ;D ;D But you have a point the Orioles don't hit much anyway.

So what does everybody here think is it a one moment of glory or the beginning of greatness?
It was a no hitter it wasn't a perfect game, he did walk 4 hitters. That's still impressive some guys pitch for 20 years and never pitch a no hitter.

hey, dustin mcgowan pitched a no hitter through 9.2/3s and some guy blooped a liner over the 2nd basemens head. that was against the rockies, a good hitting team. he pitched an amazing game, just couldnt just that final out.
a no hitter is 90% luck.... you just have to hope the balls are hit to your defence.
i dont think this guy is going to have a stellar career though. I think buchh just got lucky, hes ok, but no cy young in his future.

Sometimes a Ball player does experience beginners glory. I won't call it luck but some guys play their best right off the start and it can become a tough thing to maintain once it happens.
Classic likes to say "If you have a good infield you have a good chance of a no-hitter."
That's infielders pride talking there a little bit too.

I don't really know what mudkipz are but ok. Whatever floats your boat guys.
Dustin McGowan is a very good young right hander. That's a shame that he was one out away from a no hitter and it got away from him. I cant' say anything about a line drive up the middle because most of the time the middle infielders couldn't jump high enough to get there and more than likely the center fielder wouldn't be able to read where its going and charge up on time to catch it in the air. That's just an unfortunate thing.

Blastgirl winning a thread is impressive... Usually the blasts don't know about winning a thread or anything.
