An axolontl is a fish as you have explained before I think a Budgie is like a parakeet.

A walking fish, yup. They're actually pretty cool. BTW, my dog possibly was cuter than yours, I'm_an_alien, but he's now 3 feet underground. Oh well.

I never had a pet at all until just the Christmas of 2004 when Classic bought our Beagle named Pirate. Like I said before he's a lot like the one Classic had growing up.
I never knew how awesome it was to have a Dog until now. I really love them.

Being Blastgirls brother I guess its obvious I never had a pet either. But I like Pirate enough that I might get a dog. My parents both said I can. (I live in their house so I would need their permission to bring in a pet.
I would like a dog like Im_an_alien's too.
PS Im_an_alien check your pms for something.

I would agree that is a very myspace-ish picture.

I hiked to the top of White Mountain, the easiest 14000ft mountain in California to climb. The official benchmark was 14,242 feet. Even after resting completely at the top, my pulse never dropped below 85 or so. Your body really needs to work hard in air as thin as that. It was about a 15 mile hike round trip, took me 8 1/2 hours or so including the hour or so I spent at the top and liberal rests. Not too bad. Here's the pics: A couple from the top: img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1004365pi5.jpgimg324.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1004371hy8.jpgFrom about 4 miles away: img324.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1004373xk3.jpgGoing home, we decided to take a pic with a bristlecone pine. These trees are the oldest living organisms, some of them are over 10,000 years old: img54.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1004375pw5.jpgI just can't do downhill, though. The uphill part wasn't too bad, but going back my knees and ankles were getting pounded way too much. I had minor blisters on my right foot as well, but other than that, nothing much. This hike was pretty much to prepare for climbing Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in California. It's only a few hundred feet higher, but depending on which side you approach it from, it's either really steep or a really long hike. You need all sorts of permits and stuff to do Whitney though, so we'll probably do it next year instead of this year. I'll bring pics from my rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon in October, though. That's about 22 miles from the north rim to the river to the south rim. I've done the hike from the south rim to the river and back in a day before, but that's only 17 miles. Chances are we'll camp at the river this time so it doesn't totally kill us.

You're quite the outdoors man TC23. You have to feel like you are on top of the world once you scale the tops of those mountains. 14,426 feet is almost 3 miles of elevation and that would be if it were a straight line there's a long distance just getting to the top. It looks like you can see forever from those pictures.

TC: California's got 14ers? I thought it was Colorado and Washington, and there was nothing else in the contiguous states. Hmm. EDIT: All right. So, my dad and I have a tradition where we ski every month of the year. Next month will be month 24, and I imagine this will continue for quite some time. So, normally we'd head up to St. Mary's Glacier, but it's not that great, and we wanted to try something new, so we headed over to a place called Rollin's Pass, an old and inaccessible trail across the Continental Divide between Boulder and Winter Park. That is, the middle of nowhere. We had scouted the place out the weekend before, taking a few high-res photos (which I have unfortunately lost) of the snowfield we were planning on hitting, possible entry angles, etc. So, the following weekend, up we went. Here's the start of the ascent. home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August1.gifSee that snowfield? Yeah, that's not it. There were several small patches, but we were heading for the biggest one. See the rocky peak on the right? It's past that, and then two false peaks. The hike up took about an hour and a half, but that's only because I started running about 2/3 of the way there. We had two possible paths of entry, that is, two starting points on the snowfield to choose from. Here's the first one. home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August2.gifYeah, that's a twenty foot cornice, at the shortest. Under normal snow conditions, it wouldn't be impassable, but in August? No thanks. We opted for the second one. home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August3.gifI'm the one in blue. The skiing looks steep, but it's not that bad. home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August4.gifDad and I scouting out lines. I ripped one pretty much straight down from where my skis were pointing, and my dad followed a similar route, though he somehow managed to get more turns in. home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August5.gifThat's taken a good way down the run. Since the snowfield bends, this gives a good idea of the full scale of the skiing here. We got around 800 feet of vertical, on what turned out to be remarkably well preserved snow. It felt kind of like a freshly groomed, slightly slushy run. But it felt fantastic. The surrounding cliffs made it feel like you're king of the world skiing down, and the slope itself was something right out of a Warren Miller film (actually, this run in particular has been used to film those sorts of videos, but it was TGR, not Warren Miller). home.comcast.net/~skier_1/August6.gifTaken from the top, at about 2/3rds of the way down. We were considering hiking across the small rock band, to get as much vertical footage as possible, and also to get closer to the exit trail. The hike out turned into a 3 hour-long Bataan Death March through willows and pine trees. Only at the end did we realize that had we hugged the sides, the hike would've been cut in half without nearly as much trouble. That's what we're doing next time. All in all, incredible experience. We're going back in a week or so, to get the September day in. We both agreed that this place has permanently replaced St. Mary's as our summer ski destination. Apparently, earlier in the summer, there are multiple couloiurs all around the rim, with plenty of opportunities to grab fresh tracks and kick ass.

Some of those ski slopes look a little bit scary. It's great that you enjoy it and that you're good at it though.
TC23 I agree with Phil you look like you're on top of the World in those shots.

You guys did really take some great pictures on your climbing and ski trips.
1 of these days I'll post some pics I took when the railroad sent me to do some jobs where there's tracks over waterfalls, mountains and rivers. Not as super as your pics but they're pretty neat.
