...will beat the pants off any non-moded Camaro or Firebird out there {heck, even some moded ones}. The 'Northstar' is the only NA engine that'll give a proper SSEi a run for it's money. Blasphemy. The LS is God's engine. An L67 equipped car SHOULD beat a V6 Camaro or Firebird, seeing as how the L67 is a 3800 (what the f-bodies have) plus a supercharger. Z-28 or Trans Am though? Fuhgeddaboudit.

I have to buy American on principle. Plus having an import could harm my chances at being vice President in 4 years. My wife has the Buick LeSabre. Which is what we drive when we're all together since a regular cab pick up wont transport a family of 5.
I might have to get a van or an extended cab next. My wife has warmed up to the possibility of a Chevy venture or whatever they call it now. But we're not buying anything for a while.
PA is similar to Michigan on licensing. I can drive all weight class vehicles but not the tractor trailor.
My pickup has the 8100 V8 and it's strong.
Being 36 years old I really haven't had that many vehicles, I had a 77 Olds Cutlass when I 1st got my license, then I had a 87 Chevy silverado for years and yeas until it was parked at a curb and t-boned by a drunken idiot. SO I bought a new Silverado the 1 that's in some of my youtube blogs.

Do you know how to siphon? ;D ;D
I think the only solution is to tell your boss if he or she needs some extra help you're able to work those extra hours.

The best advice is to take it like a man and buy it. I went from a car that got 30 mpg to a truck with less than 20 mpg... you just gotta pay up sometimes.

That's eerily similar to Classic's explanation on his F350 and Mustang GT. But I don't think not drive is really an option on this. Gas prices are getting higher, that's a shame but you can't quit going places because of it.

Mist., The best way to conserve fuel is in how you drive. Don't be a throttle jockey, obviously.
A few years ago in one of my trade mags at the shop I read an article where they did a study on acceleration vs fuel consumption.
I don't remember the exact details but it went something like this:
Accelerating from 0-60mph in 10 seconds burns $350 in fuel a year. 0-60mph in 15 burns $275/yr.
Of course, that was back when fuel was only $2.25 a gallon but, that's roughly what the results were.
You could also get a bike - a small Kawasaki Ninja 250, maybe. Ease up on it and you could get in the neighborhood of 60-75mpg.
My Kaw Kz1000 gets 45mph, with a wind-jamber. My GMC gets about 15 and my Torino gets about 22.
[Ninja Edit: Of course it's hard to be easy on a bike when kids go flying by you on the interstate on their crotch rockets.]
Other than that, like everyone else says. Pony up and fill 'er up. It's nothing to throw $75 in the tank and drive for a week so I don't have to go into town.
--And, I have to laugh at people who only put in $10 but, have to go to the station every day (sometimes driving 5 miles out of their way to get to the station.) [[and after putting in $10 they'll go inside and get a Cappacino and a bunch of high dollar junk food ($5.99 for regular beef jerkey but, they have to get the $6.99 'Harley Davidson' beef jerkey - which is the same thing, only with the HD logo on the bag)]]

How about people who go across the street because its a penny or 2 cheaper per gallon then put in 5 or 10 bucks worth. That's real good.
Yeah I get about 14 miles to the gallon on a good day but I like my Silverado.

HaAA!!
OH, that's hilarious that you say that because we've got that very thing if you go further into town (where tractors aren't allowed - well, only if you're not the Mayor.)
Mobil will set their price at, say, 3.25. A few minutes later, and you can set your watch by it, the Admiral across the street is setting theirs to 3.24!...and Admiral is jam-packed!!! While Mobil might as well shut the doors!!
People don't realize that the average 'Cost per mile' of their beloved SUV is about $0.28. If the penny difference gas stations aren't next to each other, they'll burn up $0.75 CPM for save $0.34 on their $10 "fill up".

I just fill my tank. I have to go to work, I have to get things done and go here and go there. It costs what it costs and that's just the way it is. Stay home and save on gas is not really an option.

I like GM and Ford about equal to answer Mahnarch. Bonnevilles are nice though I agree. My dad loves his Grand Prix.
I think if Blastgirl buys the car she can get whatever she wants, but if Classic does the buying it will be a Ford. That's all his family buys. Their contracting business has about 70 Ford trucks and so do Classic/s brothers his parents and him all Fords.

That's true my father is a through and through Ford man and so have the rest of us always been. I do like other makes too though it's just that Fords have worked out well for our family. There have been some that weren't great but none bad enough to turn us off.
My father says he has never bought anything else, that's not entirely true. There was a time a runaway bulldozer was on his lot. Someone hopped the fence and started a bulldozer and got out of it letting it roll on its own. The dozer totaled 5 trucks that were parked back there.
Because of urgency my father bought 4 used trucks instead of doing a factory order. Of that 5 there were 2 Fords, 2 Chevrolets and a Dodge. And the other trucks served just fine.

Life's about decisions. ;D They're both cool but the truck is probably more practical if its going to be your only vehicle.

What year s the S10? What engine? 2WD or 4WD? What engine does the Camaro have? If you give us some details we can give you a better opinion. Camaros are rear wheel drive, which at times can be tough in the snow. My girlfriend drives a 2000 Camaro, and she never really ran into trouble. You just have to be easy on the gas and brakes and it's fine. I drove my Blazer in 2WD throughout most of the winter and didn't have a hard time either, only using the 4WD when there were multiple inches of snow.

If the S10 has a 4.3 it would be powerful enough get kind of good gas mileage. If you get the 4cyl s10 and 2wd they're completely gutless. The rail company has had some and they get stuck on rural areas sometimes just because there's not enough motor to power up a snowy hill.
For the most I would think that Blastgirl has a point that a s10 is more of a transportation and the Camaro is more cool. Spartan I agree rwd is bad in the snow even though it is manageable.
If you're looking for gas mileage and good in elements you're possibly farther ahead with a Malibu or something comparable.

The S10 AdTRUCK DOES RUN '82 s10, 2.8 automatic, runs, has cowinduction hood, tinted windows, aftermarket ground effects, 5 star rims, dual exuast. Have 305 motor transmission and motor mounts for additional $500. The truck DOES run. I had purchased the extra motor to soup up the truck for a toy, but got another toy to rebuild (my Nova). $1300 is what I am asking for the truck, if wanting to trade for something send pics and I'll consider it. No Lowballers, or goofballs. The camaro was sold, but what do you guys think about this s10? I'm no car freak, but from what it says, it seems to run nice... We may go look at it in a few days or so. What you think?
