lazy people don't get the right to complain

i am glad that my one co-worker worked with me today because I was on the verge of losing it. the new girl ashley thinks they pay us to walk around the store and do nothing. there is one manager you can't say anything bad to her about ashley because ashley knows how to suck up to her. christmas is coming up and I don't have time to babysit people. I swear the girl must be diamond's twin. the manager who does not want to deal with slackers called ashley to do a basket of clothing returns. she took it to the fitting room and left it for me and pat. I told pat tonight the crap ashley has been pulling. the one night she made me do the returns because she said im new I don't know why they call me for returns. I don't know where this stuff goes. um they call you for returns because it's your job. when it's just me and her the girl does nothing all night. well tonight was it. I checked the fitting room for returns at 7pm. there she was sitting down on the chair complaining how her feet hurt from standing all day. I didn't complain that much when I worked 9 days straight 64 hours in one week. I told my co-worker and we went to management about her. something needs to get done. either she learns to do returns or they cant schedule me with her or anna. it's a slap in the face when we do everything while her and anna get away with this. she was suposed to straighten in shoes and she didn't. I told my co-worker if I worked like that I would be to ashamed to come to work because that's embarrising. she's like 20 years old and can't do anything.


on a happier note we are expecting our first snowstorm. I am off work because my friends from philly and I are getting a hotel and going dorney park. not sure if they will close early tomorrow because of the snow but it will be pretty. I can't wait.

We got rid of all our lazy bums...or rather they end up quitting. The boy we had lasted like...a couple weeks. When we were supposed to do set up and clean up all he did was stand there texting. I suppose he just couldn't take it anymore. That's not including the hell nights we used to have involving 15 hours. What exactly is returns by the way?

Speaking of snow storm, I never look forward to that! On the way home it was raining, but there was a dusting of slushy snow on the ground. I heard thunder not long ago while I was sitting here at the computer.

I worked in stores and its strange how some people get the job and have no plans to work at it. They say "I dont know how" to avoid some tasks. Then they act busy if another thing is asked of them.

We have a guy in garden who calls out constantly. He is a cashier and a associate in the garden center which also handles "seasonal "merchandise. Right now it's Halloween costumes and then Christmas stuff. Another cashier always leave his register during his shift without telling us. He walks away to text or go to the bathroom. It drives me crazy.

Clock milkers! Thunderbird's biggest petpeeve. Obviously with my previous career clock milkers were not in my day to day routine but there's other kinds of slackers in all works. I am starting to run across that now though.

Those are usually the same people who wonder why others get paid more.

Jobs are so horrendously rare that it never ceases to amaze me how people can still behave like that in the workplace and aren't simply fired straight away. Businesses need to stop putting up with lazy slackers and start hiring the millions of talented and hard working people out there looking for work.

I'm stuck in the job I'm at because I'm still in school and there's nothing else available. While I don't particularly like the job and know I won't do it forever, I'm glad to have it because there's so little opportunity.

Jersey, the slackers and crappy people are kept because often times they kiss rump. Places won't take good workers who got screwed because of some kind of logic that's wrong on all levels, when in fact those people would appreciate it most and probably bust their butts to make them happy!

I would think that with unemployment were it is today it would be a buyer's market for hiring. Perhaps that's not true but I would think it would be. If I were a Boss I'd threaten that to workers who seemed lax. "With unemployment over nine percent, I'd bet someone would appreciate having a job."

I don't know what to say about that. But I do think when you're on a job the Boss counts what he's paying you whenever he sees you and compares it to the value of your labor.

Oh hell! Lady people should not have the right to complain but sadly that's largely who dies complain! They're the ones who roll their eyes and grunt when they're asked to do something simple.

We had a case like that once about a year ago a kid said under his breath about how Brian and I only make him do everything Brian heard him and said 'you have it made. You hold ladders and hand wrenches to those of us who know what we're doing. If there's a downed train, broken track or a tree falls through a roof of a building me and Phil will get the call they wont bother you at all for important things. Yes, you might have to sweep more leaves out of gutters than we do. But dont think for a second they put you out."

demona got it right on the money. slackers stay because they know how to kiss butt. also the returns are clothing that we have to put back when people return it at the service desk. it piles up now. like diamond she was there for 2 years never doing anything but certain managers liked her because she sucked up. but I am not like that. last week I was leaving work and the lazy one ashley got in the car saying she always looks mad meaning me. I can't help it but be angry when she is on because im left doing the work. me and a co-worker told a manger who won't take crap we are tired of her slacking. I can't take having to babysit these idiots because it isn't fair to the people who work hard.

jersey I agree with you I don't get how people can do this when we were in a bad recession not long ago. many stores closed and people were let go from jobs. it's a horrible feeling. years ago kmart went into a chapter 11 and one day people were let go. one left the store in tears. I lost my full time hours after that and was never told. these slackers don't realize how good they have it. to have a job and they can buy things and support themselves.

They don't get it. In fact most of the people who do the least also complain the most about how over worked they are or at least pat themselves on the back for simple doings. Like they really help.

They're the same people who complain that they're not paid as much as others when they have no idea how little is really put on them.

The same prefers not to learn more of the ins and outs of how things work because if they learn new aspects of the job more demand might get put on them. *Helpful hint,* There's bargaining for more pay when you know more too.

But those people don't think that way.

I'd also be willing to say there's more than 9 percent unemployed too. I bet its closer to 15 percent. They don't count people who are not working and not receiving unemployment.

They manage not to remember them especially around election time.

That's all work places. It even pertains to baseball. When a manager leans on a player the player proceeds to talk about their production to suggest he doesn't deserve to be leaned on. Its everywhere nobody wants to be pointed at even if they should take the blame.

Oh yes, the crap of the population that sponge off the labor of hard working men and women. Those who go through life the same way they went through school.

You know what I mean? The kids who sit at the back of the classroom hoping that nobody calls them. Those who copy their friends homework and hope that the teacher thinks they got the answers right. Those who buy cheat sheets from other kids and squeeze by.

In adulthood they move slow to look like they're busy when they are actually making the job take longer so they aren't expected to do more. The very same who will stay within the shadows of the others hoping the boss doesn't pick them.

Well I am a second generation owner and I am not tricked by transparent bullcrap that some slide through the cracks slacker thinks they're going to make their living on my table scraps.

My business demands too many workers to possibly only get the good ones but I do know when I need extra manpower and when there's enough. When the time allows for it I send home who I think pulls the least weight. Some are glad to get an early quit. I'm glad to reduce payroll at those times. I guess it pleases everybody but at least they aren't getting paid for just being there.

I don't always have that chance but when I do I send them home. And by the way, I don't mind letting a few minutes of clock benefit those who will give me that labor back when extra effort is needed.

From what I understand you're a sole proprietor and no union. That means you can make whatever decision you need to and there's no recourse. Realizing of course there's things that the labor board dictates all jobs conform to but otherwise its up to you who does what and when.

thunderbird I think it's great you send slackers home early. I agree people should not get paid if they are going to walk around doing nothing. I wish my job would do that. if they did it might teach them to work. I have tried to deal with this crap for years but my stress level is through the roof. if the clothing returns don't get done when I leave the morning crew gets mad. well they hire idiots who can't be bothered so what am I supossed to do. I am so tired of everything falling on me. I have off for 3 days but I left a mess at the fitting room with the rollbar almost full of clothes. at 9:40pm twenty minutes before closing I had 2 baskets of infiants like furniture and clothes. the manager tonight who sticks up for ashley made me mad tonight. I was halfway done straightening all of ladieswear and I was done with returns. then I was told at 8:30 pm to do menswear which was never touched and kidswear ashley's department. I also had to do her returns that she never did. on top of that she didn't come over to the fitting and put away her stuff. omg I was so mad tonight. the only thing I can do is complain but I don't see where it will get me. I mean look at diamond spent all her work time in the break room for 2 years and calling off until she got fired. they need to get it together. before when we had our strict managers they would not stand for this treatment.
