We also got hit with snowfall last week, which was surprising, as we hardly ever get snowfall in November where I live. The snow has all melted here, and now it's just cold. I really feel bad for the people who live in Bufflao, NY. They really got hit hard.

That was the most snow I've ever seen at 1 time. It was without exaggeration over 4 feet in all areas. And where it blows and drifts it was over 6 feet in some spots. It took front loaders and dump trucks to remove snow. The depths were more than a truck with a blow could clear and then once even the loaders moved the snow they were out of places to put the diggings out so they called for dumptrucks and extra loaders to clean the roads and lots.

I've never fixes so many roofs and so many shelters as the last 2 weeks. I've hardly been around because overtime is plentiful for now.

Snow and storms can be very damaging. That's one thing I sometimes miss about living north but when its a terrible snow in the news I don't miss it. hahaha. I never experienced tornadoes until I lived in this region though. I guess you get some kinds of extremes no matter where you life.

You wouldn't miss what we had. Snow is a common where I am. There's ski resorts only a few miles away. Granted those are build there because that's the hills and that's where it snows. But caved in roofs damaged sheds, trailers and shelters are the most I've ever seen in a single storm. About a 5 day storm.

This is 1 of the busiest November/December combo since I started my job 24 years ago and I have my trees up decorations done and shopping almost finished. I guess it shows that the more busy you are the more efficient you can be.

I don't see much traffic here lately. I have been extra busy too, but I hardly see new replies lately. I hope this forum isn't going to fade out like so many of them have in the past.

I've been just as guilty as everyone else this way. Sometimes if I don't see new posts I don't post too. That's not the right thing for the Admin to do though.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas we sure did.
I'm a bit annoyed about work though. I just got home a few minutes ago. I was off on the Eve going into Christmas day but the night of/after Christmas is a regular shift. All right I was ready so were the rest of us. I guess the day after Christmas is too hard for so many 1st shift workers so there we were pulling not a full double but an extra 5 hours because someone else didn't care to bother.

i hate when people don't bother to show up to work or do anything to help out while they are there. we had that issue on checkouts people can't even call to say their not coming in. they just never show up so I got stuck up there many nights and couldn't get much on the floor done. one of the younger girls quit before black friday. I went to ask her if I could go on break and she was walking around texting on her cell phone. it's mean to say but I really wanted to pull the ice bucket challenge on her and throw water over her head. she would get yelled at for slacking and taking excessive breaks then cry about it on the floor. one time she cried like anything to me because the manager yelled at her even though she deserved it. the funniest thing she said was I just threw up due to the stress of working here and I wanted to ask what work do you do besides getting paid to be on your phone? after that she came in the next day 15 minutes into her shift she went home crying and never came back. turns out she quit thank god. I know how you feel Phil about people not pulling their own weight at work. that's a lot of hours for you to work though due to people didn't finish their work or call off. I had a good christmas but I work new years eve and day so it kinda stinks being alone on this holiday. I can't believe it's already 2015 happy new years everyone.

I really believe at work I am here to be productive in whatever ways I can' I can't subscribe to the attitude that you're being paid anyway so why bother to get more done on someone else's dime. Those same people would be up in arms if they were underpaid for an hour of their time. But they have no problem wasting the time clock hours on the compay's time.
After 24 years on the job my ways are pretty settled I'd say. That's not to say an old dog can't learn a new trick but for the most part I am set how I am.
I could have been a foreman years ago had I wanted to be. I have only been 1 for a year when they split our crew and the foreman and much of the others spent 2 months in the St Louis area. When they returned a separate crew was established.
Other foremen have commented to me that they are sometimes informed that my group gets more done. What they're really telling me is they would appreciate it if we backed it off a notch so more pressure isn't put on them. They gave no thought to stepping it up a notch to meet us. But I have been a good asset to this company and I am paid very well for hard work and I am not going to slow it down so other people's lack of ambition is obscured.

I just got home. I flew to my town of origin Thursday because my father was taken to the hospital. He just turned 78 I'm a little concerned but he seemed good yesterday and today and I caught a flight and here I am. So Thunderbird will keep me posted. I asked if I should stick around for a few days but my father feels he's just fine.

I hope your dad is ok. It will be 4 years on the 16th that I lost my dad. Its never easy and my children miss their grandfather still. I can't help but think how thankful that we live in a time where there is so much video and his presence can live on this way.

You live in an area that is having it the worst but its cold everywhere. Its in the 20s in Tennessee, and Georgia and Alabama. Its in the single digits in West Virginia and Kentucky.
