The wastefulness of the government never ceases to sicken me.
I also remember right after the 2008 elections they voted themselves a $4600 a year pay raise. They spend the whole campaign trail telling us how broke the country is and then they do that.

A friend of mine showed this to me a few years ago. "Can you imagine working for a company that has a little less than 500 employees and has the following statistics: * 29 have been accused of spousal abuse * 7 have been arrested for fraud * 19 have been accused of writing bad checks * 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses * 3 have done time for assault * 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit * 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges * 8 have been arrested for shoplifting * 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits * 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year Can you guess which organization this is? It's the 435 members of the United States Congress. The same group of idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line. Go figure ?" Also I agree the way the government pisses money away is just ridiculous and sickening.

It keeps getting worse. Time was when they served prison time for some of these actions, if it wasn't bad enough for that they lost their professional privileges to practice law, and at least had to resign.
The explanation has become everybody has some dirt on them this person just got caught.
In that case we know this person did wrong. Force them out and if we catch the others down the road the same happens to them. Don't blow it off saying everybody lines their own pockets.
The intention of new blood it to try to remove the corrupt old guard. Instead the incumbents teach the new comers how to line their own nest the new ones end up figuring the problem is bigger than their ability to resolve so they become the same way. It's a vicious cycle.

^^ For sure! If the Richard Nixon scandal happened today I bet he would not have been forced to resign. Please don't misunderstand what I am saying, I am saying he should have had to resign. The President of the United States should not be doing the things he did and be left with the explanation 'everybody does wrong Nixon just got caught.'
Clinton was not pressured to resign for what he did. It was just simply a different time.
If standards don't get higher politics will become even more unscrupulous.

There should be limited government spending for politicians. They get paid a salary. A trip should cover travel expense and rooms. And the room can be the Comfort Inn. Meals they should be responsible for their own since you have to eat anyway. If its the meeting dinner that can be covered. Air fare, transportation and rooms are all that should be included in these trips. No allowance for personal use. They are paid a salary to cover all expenses other than for the job at hand.

There's talk of another stimulus plan. Since the first one worked so well.

How about Obama wanting to make his speech on the night of the republican debate? I guess all incumbents do that. Thats a way of getting attention away from your competition. It makes sense but he shouldnt have denied it. They moved it to a day that everybody agrees to though.
If the government is so out of money how are they going to stimulate anything?

Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. Recovery is when Barack Obama loses his!

Ronald Reagan said that about Jimmy Carter originally but it's as true today as it was then.

I know some people here do approve of Obama and I'm not judging them for it. I don't share their opinion.
Ordinary, Phil and I obviously did not and have not supported Obama. My question is who do you want to get the job next year? The three most viable candidates so far seem to be Mitt Romney, Michelle Bachman and Rick Perry. I have not started following it yet. I'll be more interested after Easter when it gears up. Right now there's about 395 candidates and 280 of them will be eliminated before Christmas and then another bunch will fade. I think those three will stay until the Republican convention.
Therefore one of those three will run against Obama in 2012.

Probably Perry, but I like all 3. They all seem to share the values I support.

i thought all presidents seniters goveners and whatever else use the money to do what they want with and pretend they dont
some get caught I think they get caught cause they do it more than the others
its teh same if once a week a kid isnt really in bed when his mom thinks he is it might take a long time for him to get caught but if he does it everyday he will get caught pretty soon
thats the same with imbezeling money
