The Bible also says that we shouldn't eat pigs and shellfish.
Forget that.
Actually, all that food stuff was in Leviticus, which was Old Testament. In it, it gave certain foods considered unclean. In the New Testament, Jesus (in Paul I think? I really don't know a whole lot of scripture) said that it is not what is put into your mouth that makes you unclean, but rather what comes out of it.

that it is not what is put into your mouth that makes you unclean, but rather what comes out of it. I just had a vulgar thought on this but it's not appropriate for this forum especially when your son is an active member so I won't elaborate on that. In the right context I know there's a lot of animals that are considered sacred such as pigs. That was old testament procedure. I wouldn't eat shellfish now for that matter. Unclean was a concern for sure. If you ever tasted the way my wife bakes pork chops I think some Jewish people could embrace Christianity for the right to eat pork. Some religions don't eat beef, I cant imagine no hamburgers or steak.

That is some clever insight.
I may have to read this Bible book and see if I can glean any further quotes!
What I don't get is how people can remember what's where in that book.
Whenever you hear or read a quote they always include the chapter and verse. I can't even tell you what chapter I'm on in my regular readin' books - and they're just numbered 1-30+/-.
